What a wonderful experience we had at the Inn on 23rd! From the moment we arrived in the library and met Thomas and another staff member, both of whom greeted us warmly, we knew we had found a home away from home. The library is a charming room, beautifully decorated, filled with books, magazines, newspapers, a wall of windows overlooking the street ... and our breakfasts and wine and cheese and snacks there were delicious. We also had a great dinner one night in the restaurant downstairs, "The Guilty Goose" - excellent food; and they were very happy to customize one of our meals. Our room was lovely, clean, and comfortable and it was amazingly quiet -- no street noise! What a peaceful place to return to after a busy time in the city ... can't wait to stay there again ...

I have stayed at the Inn on 23rd four times and loved every visit. The Inn is a special place - the rooms are so comfortable, the library where breakfast is served each morning and wine and cheese offered on Friday and Saturdays is so inviting - and Thomas and his staff are so helpful and friendly. The new restaurant downstairs is also a plus, providing a convenient option for a casual lunch or dinner or a drink at the bar.

On this stay my grandchildren, ages 6 and 8, stayed at the Inn as well. Although the Inn's clientele is adult travelers, the staff was welcoming to the children.

My family loves the Inn and recommends it to anyone looking for a great location and a unique place to stay in New York.

This was our second stay at The Inn on 23rd and was an absolute joy. The staff is professional and friendly, a rare combination these days. The rooms are clean. Breakfast is a delightful experience. Thomas and the desk employees are incredibly helpful. Just can not say enough nice things about our stay.

A great little hotel with European charm and a good location in Chelsea. I will stay there again and recommend it without hesitation. The service was excellent. Free Wifi and access to a computer with a printer were nice extras along with breakfast and drinks/snacks in the common room.

This place is a gem. It feels like staying in someone's home ... from the honor system for drinks to the magazines in the library ... in fact, the pictures hanging on the walls ARE family photos of the current owner's family. You almost forget you're in NYC. (I used to live there.) It harkens to a different century but it has all the modern conveniences (and more) that you'd find at a conventional hotel. It's clean and friendly and pleasant and has a lot of personality (my room had a nautical theme featuring antique ship lamps and 19th century diver's gear) and at the same time you can have complete privacy if you choose. It has special amenities, such as noise reduction to filter out city noise and breakfast is served until 10am. The whole place been designed with care and concern for the comfort of guests. A wonderful place to stay, I would definitely go back for another visit.

Room Tip: There's no pool (I selected that option by mistake and couldn't de-select it).

This was our first visit to New York and this delightful hotel made it a truly memorable experience. The room we were allocated was spacious and nicely decorated. Although it overlooked 23rd street the traffic noise wasn't too bad as we were on the 4th floor. The a/c unit was noisy but we were able to sleep with it turned off so we slept well. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful and the hotel benefits from having the Guilty Goose bar downstairs. The location of the hotel is good, short subway rides (stations are a 5 minute walk) from Times Square, Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty tours. If you're looking for 5 star features (spa etc) then this is not the place for you. If you're looking for an ideal base to tour NYC which is homely and comfortable the Inn on 23rd is for you. Would we stay there again, yes.

The Inn is the owner's personal home. It is sandwiched between commercial buildings on 23rd between 6th and 7th Ave. with a welcoming awning in front. The reception is on the 2nd floor in what also serves as the living and breakfast room. It is a very welcoming and comfortable space with the owners collection of tea cups and memorabilia displayed throughout. The rooms are on the upper three floors. Ours was spacious including a king size and roll away bed. We were able to provide visual separation for sleeping between my wife and myself and a friend that we had with us with ample room to move about. The room had a large closet, bureau and several tables including a desk. The room faced onto 23rd St. but any noise from the street was muffled by the "white noise" of the air conditioner that worked well. I often rose early and enjoyed a cup of coffee and a newspaper in the breakfast room while listening to classical music from a Bose radio there. At about 8:00 the breakfast was provided a la carte consisting of a generous amount of fruit, juice, bagels and rolls, and a hot egg dish. Soft beverages, wine and liquor were in an honor bar. The Inn is about three blocks from the High Line - a must see in NYC. The subway red line is at 7th with access to almost any where in NYC. We used a single Metro Card that we passed back to each other after going though the turnstiles. Tom and Eric, both very solicitous, manned the reception desk during the day until 9:00 P.M. Our only minor issue was the tiny soaps provided for the sink and shower. We would, however, definitely go back and are recommending the Inn to our friends. It is, in our view, superior to a NYC hotel providing larger accommodations with a personal touch.
