Description: Scarpetta is LDV Hospitality's signature restaurant concept that first launched in New York's Meatpacking District. The Italian expression, "fare la scarpetta," describes the gesture of taking the little boot-shaped piece of bread to soak up the remaining sauce left in the pot of one's home kitchen. In 2008, Scarpetta received a James Beard nomination for 'Best New Restaurant in America' as well as a coveted three-star review from the New York Times.

The only disappointment with this restaurant is that my wife and I only ate here once as for the last remaining days of our trip, the restaurant was fully booked. The service was excellent from the moment we stepped into this place. We had fritto misto and mozzarella in carozza as starters. We then proceeded to have pasta as a main and this was simply amazing and out of this world. Never had anything like this. The dessert was out of this world too. We would have surely visited again however this was not possible due to no available tables in the last couple of days of our trip to NY. I would advuse anyone visisting NY NOT to miss out on this great restaurant.

Certainly off the beaten path, this hard to find south Manhattan restaurant in the old Meat Packing district was fun and the food was terrific. We loved the dining room. Like so many NYC restaurants, tables are close and cozy. Fortunately, our neighbors were charming and friendly. As were the servers. The menu has some nice variations on classic recipes.

Excellent meal with FANTASTIC wine!
The service here is very good, ate here as a group of 4 - any more I think would be too loud for the venue. Fantastic meal.

We came here for a Sunday night birthday dinner. Our waiter was very informative--answering all our questions, attentive, fun and friendly. We decided on the 5 course tasting menu and would rate it somewhere around average to above average. Overall we enjoyed the meal but thought a lot of the dishes seemed to have a bit too much finishing salt on them which got annoying after awhile. Not sure the food we had was worth the price tag and not sure I would run back to this restaurant anytime soon.

My worst experience at a restaurant in life. Wanted to go somewhere nice for Valentines Day and decided to choose Scarpetta. When we made our reservations they were quick to tell us that they would charge us 100 dollars EACH for canceling from this point forward and took down our credit card information. After we had made reservations we called to ask if we had access to the full menu or if it was a fixed menu. They told us it was a fixed menu which would be accessed online. The regular menu was only for walk ins.....When we arrive we were greeted and seated at a nice table. Upon opening the fixed menu it is exactly what we saw when we looked online except for the fact that in fine print at the bottom of the menu says "150 PER PESON" !!!!! nice of them of them to leave that part OFF of the online menu..such a shocker how quickly they mentioned the 200 dollar cancellation fee but failed to mention the 150 dollar per person menu fee before we made the reservation!! At this point we were ready to walk out except we couldnt leave becuase it would be a 200 dollar cancellation fee!!! At this point we were stuck to decided to make the best of it, enjoy our food and hope that it was well worth the 400 we spent....Unfortunately we did NOT enjoy the rest of our experience. Our table was uneven and wabbeling the whole time. Despite the "5 course menu"(which would decieve you into thinking you would actually be getting a lot of food)the portions were so small they could each be finished in a few bites except for the desert portion which included a plate of chocolates pasteries which that seemed as if they were staright out of a box.....we left hungry and unsatisifed after a 400 dollar meal...After checking the real prices online off the menu our dinner should have come out to 180 dollars total not 400...BIGGEST SCAM OF MY LIFE. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO SCARPETTA!
