We stayed for 7 nights to this hotel .It was like all Marriot hotels, above average. The service was perfect, the rooms were big and always clean, the staff was very friendly, except maybe one guy.. but that was all right. The gym had amazing view.

Such elegant and well appointed rooms. Received a genuinely warm welcome from lobby staff
Small rooms as you would expect in NY, but recommend staying here.
Air con a little noisy at times, but well laid out rooms with a very comfy bed.
Walk in shower with lovely toiletries, snug is how I'd describe the bathroom too but clean and fresh.
Stay here if you can - well placed (we've been recommended to get to Sophie's Cuban restaurant round the corner for cheap and good food).
Rooftop bar hotel is amazing.

Has the feel of a boutique hotel with personable staff and amenities. Nice location - 3 blocks from subway, 2 blocks from Empire State Bldg, 15 min walk to Times Square. Rooftop bar has marvelous view of Empire State Bldg; consequently crowded in evening - get there before 7PM. Nice restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Special events for Marriott timeshare owners.

The Pulse Brand Vacation Club is a disappointment. The staff however is very accommodating, helpful & friendly. Peter & Santos are the best. The location on W.37th street is great. The size of the room the smallest I have ever stayed in while in Manhattan This is not a full service hotel. If you are on a budget & want to stay at Marriott, I would suggest the Courtyard or Springhill next door. The bathroom is small, the closet is small. Even though this is a newer property it lacks all the amenities that makes Marriott great. As a Marriott Platinum Elite member none of the benefits of this membership are available at this location. I fault Marriot for not explaining the difference between their Vacation Club "Brand" & Pulse Vacation Club Brand. There is a roof top bar that has great views, no food.

Room tip: All rooms are the same, if room w/ 2 beds they are double not queens. Some rooms have view of Empire Sate Building

As Vacation Club owners of several properties, this is NOT a typical Marriott timeshare room. We were both shocked walking into our rooms, even after the emails about no launderette or kitchen at this property. The rooms are tiny, the bathroom has zero storage space except one glass shelf directly above the toilet that's taken up for the tiny amenity bottles and the disposable plastic cups, there is no desk, no luggage rack, no robe, no makeup mirror (no room for it!), the closet only fits a few items, the safe is on the top shelf of the closet and barely accessible if you're less than 6ft tall, and there are three drawers in the whole room, but there is a small sofa, a half refrigerator, what I call a throwaway coffee maker with Starbucks pods (nice!), hair dryer, a nice TV, and 5 easily accessible outlets.

The view of the Empire State building is great if your room is facing that direction, and the window is large to let in a lot of light (and views of the people in the building across the street). The bed is comfortable, and the hot water worked fine, except that the shower doesn't have a door (only a half glass wall, European-style) so you have to turn the knob and jump back to avoid cold spray. The room was very clean, and one plus to the difference of a regular timeshare property was daily housekeeping and turndown.

The building is quite tiny, so you can hear housekeeping talking in the hallways or neighbors who aren't thoughtful about how loudly they're speaking, and when the bellman knocked on the door of the room next to mine, I thought it was my door. However, if you've got quiet neighbors, you should be okay, although even on floor 12, I could hear the car horns, alarms, etc. Soundproof windows would have been a good investment.

There is no water given in the room, and none available unless you listen to a timeshare presentation. They literally lock the tiny refrigerator with water in it on the bottom floor so those of us paying or using our timeshare weeks to stay there can't steal the precious miniature water bottles. The downstairs bar / lounge is hardly open. I was there Friday - Monday and never got to try the restaurant because it's only Monday - Friday lunch. But the rooftop bar is open every day from 5pm.

However, if you can live with those things, the location is fantastic for walking to shopping on 5th, Madison, 34th, and getting to many tourist attractions like St Patrick's, the Empire State Building of course, Top of the Rock, Times Square, Central Park, and the Theater District. There are enough decent restaurants within a 20 minute walk. Location is the big selling point here.

Also, every person we encountered on the staff was great except the super pushy timeshare sales guy (he is NOT a concierge, don't be fooled). The bell staff was particularly great here, and housekeeping was extremely friendly. Bar service on Sunday evening could have been a touch more attentive, but not bad.

Bottom line, the size of the rooms suck, especially when calling this a Vacation Club property, but the staff is nice, it's very clean, and it's got a great location. Would I use my points or week here again? No.
