“Came for a glimpse of the Gutenburg Bible”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2014

One of the best and under-rated public institutions in the city of New York, I popped in mainly for a glimpse of the Gutenburg Bible. One of less than 50 versions left from an original printing of 180 copies, the library's version is printed on paper, as opposed to rarer versions printed on vellum. Also managed to see the Rose Main Reading Room - this was prior to its temporary closure.

“Worth a quick stop”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2014

I wanted to see the building from Ghostbusters. It was under repair in June 2014, so not much to see. Near Bryant Park with is a nice break and looks great at night with the lights. Get a picture of the lions out front!

“You've seen it in movies, but you HAVE to see it in person.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2014

The library is a gorgeous, mammoth building with huge columns or marble. It's a breath-taking place. The entrance hall is awe inspiring, hinting at what is cradled within it's belly. The collection of materials contained within bleed history. Absolutely gorgeous. The loss of one star only comes from the fact that it's easy to get lost in the halls that surround the core of the library. I was lost for a good five minutes before I could find my way out, and didn't see one other human being the entire time I was lost. This is a must see, especially in an age when books are becoming a thing of the past.

“No reading room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2014

Be aware that, following a piece of the ceiling of the famous reading room falling to the floor, it is closed to the public until at least January, while its safety is checked out. The building is still worth checking out for its other features. Admission is free - bags may be checked.

“What a lovely building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2014

Walked past here and thought we would have a quick look, the building is amazing, spend a bit of time just looking around and buying up some amazing things at the gift shop, there is a good kids area down below if you have children, it's worth a look if your walking past.
