For a public library to have such wonderful architecture & art is a true example of America. Donated by some of the wealthiest Americans to the public it truly stunning to see the magnificent reading rooms, the foyer and staircases as normal people go about life around you.

Worth spending a few minutes to wander upstairs. The reading room and the artwork upstairs is teriffic as is the marble interior.

When you get to the NY Public Library, unless you've been living in a cave, you will recognize it from a number of movies. The building is historic and the interior is the perfect setting for a spy movie or love story. Best of all, unlike the other NYC attractions, admission is FREE!

We've been to the children's book section. Enjoyed the exhibition. The whole place is impressive. Not all areas are open to the public. By the way there might be a mix up between the beautiful place of the massive public library and the modern less attractive section on the other side of the street. They have a different opening hours so check before you come. The souvenir shop inside is also nice.
