You can walk in and see a Guttenberg Bible, a Honus Wagner baseball card, and - when I went on July third - Thomas Jefferson's handwritten copy of the Declaration of Independence AND the Bill of Rights! Free! This place is amazing!

If you love books, architecture, history, exhibits, or need a quiet respite, the NYPL is one of the best places in NYC. Be sure to get to the Rose Reading rooms on the 2nd floor and take the library tour if you can. That it abuts Bryant Park is a major bonus, that is one fantastic park to take a break and enjoy a nice respite before or after the library. If you live in NYC, then become a member, supporter, and user of the NYPL system.

If you like real books you have to see this library. I spent many an afternoon using these facilities while in college. You will be amazed at the marble stairs and the reading room.

at our wonderful library. The checkout system changes like clockwork, which is frustrating, but the number and variety of volumes on any subject in which you're interested can't be beat. One of the best libraries in the country.
