“Great Museum on NYC History”

Without a doubt I would recommend to visit the Museum of New York. It was a nice museum though there was some closed galleries I would still make it a point to stop in and see what exhibit is going on display. i enjoyed the Gilded NY exhibit personally. Worth a visit, extra bonus it it right across from the Central Park Conservancy Gardens!!!

“Museum of the Best City on Earth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014 via mobile

The Museum of the City of NY is a gr8 museum with gr8 exhibits. Right now there's a graffiti exhibit called City As Canvas & a photography exhibit about civil rights demonstrations in NYC throughout the 20th century. Both exhibits are compelling & fun, especially the graffiti exhibit, which is a blatant attempt to get a younger crowd into the museum, but so what? Nothing wrong with that. One of my favorite items in the wonderful gift shop is always the museum's own yearly calendar full of vintage NYC photographs. The only time I know of that entry to this museum is free is during the Museum Mile Fest every June, but it's well worth a visit here, even if you have to pay to get in.

“Content Interesting, Most by Specific Themes”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2014

There is a movie that is very interesting about the history of the City. Everything else is by few temporary subjects.
There could be more in depth about some historical events that were very important, the feeling is that the essence of the City is not captured in an encompassing way.

“Disappointing”

Only when you go in do you realise that half of the museum is closed. Not worth the cab fare or entrance fee.

“Pleasantly surprised”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014

I went here primarily for the graffiti exhibit and was pleasantly surprised by the other offerings. There was a really cool video about the history of NYC, in addition to exhibits highlighting NYC activism throughout time and hurricane Sandy.
Although a small museum, I would happily pay another $10 to see these exhibits again. Super cool!
