“Gem of a hotel in the heart of New York.”
Reviewed March 19, 2010

I have just returned from our trip to see the St Patricks day parade in NY. We were a party of 3 woman so knew that space might be a problem but it was fine. I have stayed in many hotels in NY including the Hilton Towers, Helmsley etc and this is one hotel I will return to. For the price we had paid I was not expecting very much but from the moment we checked in the Hampton exceeded our expectations. All the staff were so freindly and this can make up for most things. In some of the more expensive hotels you get the impression that some of the staff are looking down their noses at tourists but not at this hotel.
The location was unbeatable with really good pubs and places to eat on the hotel block itself.
One downside was that we were in room 202 which was could be really noisy because it was right over the entrance and was right next to a drinks and ice machine. The staff had said they would move us after two days but by then we were fine.
You can book this hotel with confidence must be one of the best value for money hotels in the city.

Stayed here in Feb 10. Very welcoming staff, excellent room with wonderful view of Empire State Building !!! Clean and comfortable - the only negative was the heating system was not very good, it was a fan heater, very noisy, and not very warm, which we coud have done with, the weather being -10 !!! Also, only 2 elevators, so queues inevitable. Complimentary breakfast vey nice, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, omelettes, basic but nice.
Location was excellent, either end of the street was 5th Avenue one way and Broadway the other, we could see Macys from our bedroom. Subway station right on the doorstop.
Would definitely recommend this hotel to all travellers. NB little tip, taxi from Newark was 85 dollars - worth booking the shuttle only 15 dollars !!!

My husband and i stayed at the hotel on a trip to celebrate my 40th birthday and we were very impressed with all it had to offer. The hotel is in a fabulous location. its a few steps from MAcy's, on the street next to the Empire State and Madison square Gardens is close by too. The walk to Times Square took around 10 minutes.
Although in NYC, the hotel seemed to be in a quiet location and we were right on the front of the hotel and never had any noise issues. I am so glad I stayed here rather than Times Square!
The room wasnt huge but i have stayed in smaller in England and Europe. We had a super kingsize bed which was wonderfully comfortable, choice of pillows, flat screen tv, a lovely bathroom and all the facilities you need in your room including complimentary wifi. The complimentary breakfast was a great additinal perk and saved us a lot of money on the trip as NYC is not a cheap city. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for us.
I know that next time I go to NYC that the Hampton Inn 35th street will be the only hotel Iwill be looking to stay at!

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Empire State while visiting NYC in February 2010. Location was very good, just a quick to walk to many attractions. Hotel is very close to Empire State Building, Macys and Madison Square Garden. Rooms were quite small but pretty comfortable and very clean. Internet was free. The complimentary breakfast was not great but perfectly OK. Staff was very friendly.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Empire State while visiting NYC in Fall 2009. Location was perfect; quick to walk to many attractions, and easy access to transit. Rooms were small, bur nicely decorated and very clean. Complimentary breakfast was great, and staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay here again for sure!

Me and my husband stayed at his hotel for 8 nights, and we definetly recommend it for everyone. The location is great, close to Macy's, VS and many other stores. Walking distance for Times Square is about 10 minutes. There are subway stations around the hotel, connecting to all important places.
The room was comfy and cleaned every day. They aren't big though, but considering NY hotel's standards, it had a great size. Although the hotel was always full, noises from other guests weren't a issue for us during our stay. Free internet is available through all hotel with a good speed. If you need print something, just need to go at the basement, where there is a free printing service and internet access.
We also liked the complimentary breakfast with fruits, juice, hot chocolat, waffles, eggs and muffins, with no additional fees.
When we come back to NY, our hotel first choice will surely be this one.
