Another one here who took advantage of the rough draft rates for the Thanksgiving week. Got a beautiful room on the 10th floor with views of upper Manhattan and the river. As others have mentioned, the room is way above typical NYC hotel rooms. (Sign up for the Kimpton frequent flyers program and get free wifi and a $15 credit for the mini bar).
Service is top notch here. From beginning to end, check in to the doormen to the wait staff, all are obviously trained to make your stay really pleasant.
The only odd thing about the room is no coffee maker. Even more odd, because their really aren't alot of close by options to grab a cup of coffee in the neighborhood. This to me is like hair dryers, you should expect one in any hotel room. If you call down to tthe fron tdesk, they will bring one up to your room in a few minutes though. But you do have to keep reminding them to bring you coffee refills.
The morning breakfast was nice, but nothing to write home about. I did make one of the wine evenings and the wine was very good. Nice touch.
I think this hotel is a great option for seasoned tourists looking to be close to Times Square but not in the center of the all the Chaos. If you don't mind a walk (And you better not if you are intent on seeing NYC) you can get to all the Times Square stuff in about 15 minutes. I walked with my luggage to and from Penn Station and it was a nice healthy hike.
I would definitely recommend this place and would come back again in the future. I think addin a bar and a restaurant will add a lot of value to the place.
