We spent our honeymoon on Ink48 hotel. We arrived the 3rd of september 2012 and stayed for 6 nights.
Actually we didn't use the hotel's facilities very much. But we got everything we hoped for and more.
We had seen what kind of great views over Manhattan the hotel offers on their website. So prior to our arrival, we wrote the hotel and asked for the highest floor possible with the best view and let them know we were on our honeymoon. When we checked in we were placed on the 15th floor (just beneath the roof top bar) with an amazing view facing the Manhattan skyline.
When we entered our room (1504) there was a card from the concierge with the best wishes and a bottle of Brut and fresh fruit (see the picture). Thank U very much :-)
The room was spacious and had a seperate shower room and a big bath tub in the living room. The bed was very nice and the furniture adequate. There was a big flat screen TV.
Our room was made spotlessly clean every day. And the staff even came late afternoon to role down curtains, hang our the bathrobes out and make the room comfortable.
The only negative thing about our hotel room was the fact that it was a little drafty. Standing in front of the front door you can easily feel the draft on your feet from outside the room. Having said that, it didn't bother us, because of the warm weather. But it could annoying at wintertime.
We didn't use the hotel's resteaurant so we can't comment on that. Neither did we use the free wine hour each day, where you can meet with the other travellers over a free glass of wine.
But we used the roof top bar. Besides the bar it offers amazing views almost 360 degrees. You have a perfect view to the Hudson River and an even more perfect view over midtown Manhattan.
The hotel is located at the 48th street on the 11th avenue. We used 10 min. to walk to Times Square. The neighbourhood seems a little "desert" for Manhattan. We used the 48th street the first night to get to Times Square. It's a rather dark street. I'm sure it's an ok neighbourhood, but still we chose to use the much bigger 42nd street the rest of the days to get to midtown Manhattan.
It's not a cheap hotel. But hotel prices in NYC are generally high.
The day before we left, we asked the reception staff if it was possible to check out an hour later (1 pm.). No problem at all.
Btw if you come from Newark Airport, it's a rather expensive taxi bill you get since the taxi crosses the stateline to New Jersey.
You can take the Newark Express bus, which operates between Newark Airport and Port Authority Bus Terminal on the 42nd street. It's 16 dollars a person. You can also take a shuttle bus which 17 dollars a person. We took the shuttle bus when we arrived (it drives you directly to your hotel) and the Airport express bus back to the airport to avoid to much driving around picking other people up before going to the airport.
We are very satisfied with our stay. The staff conducted very professionally and friendly. We will definately recommend this fine hotel in a great city.
Cheers from Denmark
