“Friendliest Spot in NYC”
Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

The four point was one of the numerous hotels I stayed at during my project in New York. Though it's not the most luxurious hotel NYC has ever known, it still was the most memorable one of all. It's located off of broadway in Soho, within a walking distance of most restaurants and cool hangout spots. The staff, especially those at the restaurant/bar, made the stay very agreeable.

I will start with pros -
Good location a couple blocks from bleaker st
Clean rooms
Friendly staff at front desk
Cons -
Very very very noisy room! DO NOT stay in room 201 or any rooms that face the outdoor aircon units it is noisier than an aero plane and after a 12 hr flight not what I needed literally slept one hr that night. Complained to reception at 4am after toilet was blocked and leaking was offered a move but was only there for a night and couldn't be bothered at that time.

Would not stay again because of that experience make sure you ask room no before you book stAy away from 201!

Room Tip: Stay away from 201 or Amy rooms that face outdoor units so loud it is no exaggeration

Thank you for staying with us. I apologize for the noise. The room number that you mentioned faces Charlton Street and can be noisy if traffic is backed up. I apologize for the plumbing incident. Please contact me directly to further discuss.

This Hotel is in Soho. Lots of restaurants and shopping, subway close. Staff was attentive and friendly. We stayed during Christmas and the rates were reasonable. Away from noisy and tourist trap Times Square. But close to all.

Clean and compact hotel. Good location. Near subway (Houston St) and Little Italy. Not much in the immediate area, but you can walk to fun neighborhoods. The rooms are very clean and neat, but tiny. Bathrooms are very nice and modern.

The location is quite good. Subway is close, SoHo and village are close. Staff at front-desk is quite helpful and in our case went out of their way to help us plan our city tour. The free-wifi offered also has good speed.

Breakfast should have been complementary part of the room rent, but that's not an issue. There are a couple of Deli's and breakfast places around where you can drop by for a cheaper breakfast

Room Tip: Rooms that face downtown have a better view

I needed a safe, clean, decent hotel for my 2 sons and I. Everything I checked was over $200 a night except for the Four Points SoHo so was concerned that maybe it wasn't in the best area, but it was GREAT!! Looks pretty new, rooms are surprisingly a decent size compared to some closet size rooms you get in Manhattan. Upon entry, the room and the decor are so well placed that I would have sworn the beds were queens instead of doubles (doubles being the norm in Manhattan). The high quality beds and bedding also give the illusion that the doubles are bigger than they actually are. I would never have thought they were doubles but management corrected me.

The hotel is very clean and well decorated. Front desk staff was friendly, very helpful with directions and suggestions and ordered me an airport car that arrived on time.

However, the location must be odd because the two taxis that I used had trouble finding it. The first taxi, a black car from JFK, had to use a GPS. The second taxi, a yellow cab, couldn't figure it out by the cross streets I gave him. I finally told him by the Houston St subway stop and he got me to the hotel from there.

I'm originally from NY and worked in the city so am familiar with subways and getting around to tourist sights so to me the location was good. For someone new to NYC, this may be a little out of the way of the more popular areas....but for the price savings, it's certainly worth learning how the subways and taxis work and staying at the Four Points SoHo.

You are next to Chinatown so some of the best Chinese food is in the area. (Also close to Little Italy.) We ate at Jazzy's restaurant located right on the corner next door to the hotel. It's a really unique restaurant....half is chinese buffet (very delicious!) and the other half is split between a deli that serves fresh sandwiches and a grille where you can get several things like omelettes to BLT's. The boys ate chinese and I had breakfast. Where else can you get a combination like that except NYC?! :)

So glad I discovered this hotel for future visits.

Fantastic location. Subway one block away, the river two blocks away, and the Village and Soho within a five minute walking distance. The staff were very helpful, especially Brian at the front desk and the breakfast wait staff were truly delightful. I disagree with Mr Rogers' review below - the breakfast restaurant service was fantastic, and I was surprised at how excellent the food was, for a hotel breakfast. Also, we were also able to get a taxi outside the hotel most times, and if not, the wait on the corner of Hudson was never more than a few minutes. The rooms were clean. There was construction going on next door at the time of writing, which was a little noisy, however the beds were so comfortable I had no trouble falling asleep. Also free coffee in the morning in the lobby, which was surprisingly good and free wifi. Overall, I was very impressed. It seems rare to get consistent good customer service in Manhattan, however we got it at this hotel.
