“Great hotel, good service, good location, nice rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2014

The hotel is great, much nicer than Highline one in NYC.
For a Standard, rooms are quite nice, nice furtnitures.
No gym but free access to the one nextdoor
The location is great, easy access to all cool areas downtown.

Room Tip: If you can, try to get a corner room with nice view and great bathrooms

My husband and I stayed at the Standard East Village recently, and our time there was wonderful. We loved the location, and the hotel itself lives up to its name. Moreover, the staff was not only accomodating, they were also genuinely helpful and attentive and seem to enjoy being a part of the whole Standard experience (which makes a real difference). We really appreciated the time that Jacob took with us in particular.

Stayed here for one night after a big day in NYC. The room itself was great for exactly this sort of thing. I had a solid, but not excellent view, and there was space, but I wouldn't call it spacious. The bed was absolutely glorious, and the linens/pillows were equally enjoyable. Bathroom as well was well-appointed (not gratuitously so), but very clean and well-appointed nonetheless. The lobby is a bit uninspiring, however, and the curbside is pretty unnoticable. Essentially, if you want somewhere to stay near SoHo, and are primarily interested in a clean place with a great night's sleep, this is for you. But if you want whiz-bang, look elsewhere. Location could also be great for sightseers, since you're close to the 6 train, NR, and BDFM -- so you can get pretty much anywhere pretty easily.

Loved my stay at The Standard East Village. As you'd expect, the hotel attracts a young, hip crowd and the experience and service was on-point throughout my stay. Rooms were comfortable with great views and the restaurant and bar had an incredible atmosphere and service. Very good value as well; I will be returning to stay again.

Worth it just for the bed, amazingly comfortable. Small rooms with great views. Kind of no frills room but who needs it when you have NYC on your doorstep.
Great restaurant, service was friendly and location was superb. Great vibe in the evenings.

Stayed there for a local conference. Rooms are cute but small. About 8-10 rooms per floor. Different rooms are slightly different sizes, so you might want to try and get a larger room if possible. Showers have liquid soap and shampoo instead of individual bars/bottles. The view from the higher floors is fantastic. Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean (and I am very particular about that). Flat screen TV hanging on the wall. Full mini bar in the cabinet. They even had umbrellas hanging in the room that one can use, but you would have to pay for it if you kept it. Front desk and rest of staff was very helpful and helped when asked for something. There is a bar/café off the lobby that was very quaint. There is also an outdoor garden that one can sit in on a nice day. Overall a nice stay. Would recommend to someone who wants to be in the area.

Service is awful. I tried to have a package shipped to me as a guest to this hotel three times and the hotel staff lost it. The front desk staff were not outright rude, but they were indifferent and didn't seem to care when I asked for help. Also, they were not able to get us a dinner reservation at the in-house restaurant. What's the point of having an in house restaurant if hotel guests get no priority?

Rooms are okay, location is okay, but honestly I'd rather stay at the Ace Hotel for similar value and much better service/atmosphere/amenities.
