We booked a reservation in advance and paid for a trip to the Statue of Liberty, then a trip to NY to see the 9/11 Memorial, and then back to NJ. The boat crew was nice, but no one knew where we were to get tickets to the 9/11 Memorial although the ticket stated "tickets available from vessel crew". We took the ferry from the Statue to Battery Park in NY and no one could give us directions on where to go. We walked about a mile through the streets with two small children in tie. Our 9/11 tour was to start at 1:15pm, but no one at the site had ever seen the tickets from Statue Cruises before. To tour the 9/11 Memorial is free- so what did we pay for? We had to walk over a mile back to Battery Park with the kids in the pouring rain and were then denied access onto the boat because we should have taken a different boat located near the Memorial. Keep in mind- none of this was on the paperwork we received when we bought the tickets. We needed a supervisor's approval to board a boat in NY only to go back to the Statue, wait for another hour for the boat to take us back to NJ. Needless to say, the kids were exhausted and we were beyond frustrated. The Statue and Memorial are among the highlight of our trip, but the drama involved in getting to and from was mind boggling. Instead of employees on every street corner hawking tickets, perhaps the company should have educated employees who can direct their customers to proper places/instructions for the tours.
