Owner description: No visit to the New York City area is complete without a trip to one of the world’s most famous historical landmarks – The Statue of Liberty Historical Monument and Ellis Island Immigration Museum. Statue Cruises offers departures throughout the day from both New York and New Jersey for the convenience of out-of-town visitors and local residents alike.

We booked a reservation in advance and paid for a trip to the Statue of Liberty, then a trip to NY to see the 9/11 Memorial, and then back to NJ. The boat crew was nice, but no one knew where we were to get tickets to the 9/11 Memorial although the ticket stated "tickets available from vessel crew". We took the ferry from the Statue to Battery Park in NY and no one could give us directions on where to go. We walked about a mile through the streets with two small children in tie. Our 9/11 tour was to start at 1:15pm, but no one at the site had ever seen the tickets from Statue Cruises before. To tour the 9/11 Memorial is free- so what did we pay for? We had to walk over a mile back to Battery Park with the kids in the pouring rain and were then denied access onto the boat because we should have taken a different boat located near the Memorial. Keep in mind- none of this was on the paperwork we received when we bought the tickets. We needed a supervisor's approval to board a boat in NY only to go back to the Statue, wait for another hour for the boat to take us back to NJ. Needless to say, the kids were exhausted and we were beyond frustrated. The Statue and Memorial are among the highlight of our trip, but the drama involved in getting to and from was mind boggling. Instead of employees on every street corner hawking tickets, perhaps the company should have educated employees who can direct their customers to proper places/instructions for the tours.

once through security, the boat loaded quickly and the trip was smooth; there is no shade waiting for the boat either at Battery Park or Liberty Island so bring sunscreen, a hat or an umbrella on hot days

$17 for the trip to the island - admission to the statue needs booked way ahead - long lines from the ticket booth to the security scan tent - where they got really snotty about me removing my watch (never yet set off an alarm with it in 30 airports) and all the paper from my pockets. Piled onto the boat which doesn't have enough seats so you may have to stand - ferry (sorry this is NOT a cruise) crosses to the front of the statue and holds for a few mins to allow you to get some pictures before docking on Liberty Island - we opted to stay on the ferry as the queue to get back off was huge and the best view was from the boat anyway. Go for the view but as another reviewer said, if there is another option for you then take it.

The tour boats are big. We purchased tickets online prior to getting to NYC. Would highly recommend doing this. Our departure time was 1 pm. However we were 1 1/2 hours early and they let us go. We had pedestal tickets. Such a nice tour with the audio set. It was the hottest day of the year in NYC, so she was cool in the bottom. Would highly recommend this company.

We loved seeing the Statue of Liberty but Statue Cruises was awful. They need a complete overhaul starting with the signs in Battery Park which are very confusing. We just wondered about until we finally find the correct line to be in. Our boarding time was 8:00 am. We got there about 15 minutes early and already had purchased our tickets on-line. It was 9:00 before we finally arrived on the island. It look them forever to crowd way to many people on the ferry. The ferry provides some of the best views of NYC and The Statue of Liberty if only I could see past the mass of people on the ferry. It was a very hot day and sitting in the baking sun for 45 minutes while they continue to cram people on the boat was very uncomfortable. I can't imagine how people who do the tour in the afternoon survive. There was no directions, tips. or suggestions as we disembarked. Again we just wondered around until we found the line to get to the pedestal. My research indicated this was the only company that ferries to the island. Apparently since they know they have the corner on the market customer service is optional.
