“Great location, Very Clean and Affordable!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2012 via mobile

We recently stayed here for 6 nights on our trip to New York, after reading other reviews we were worried the rooms would be too small for an extended stay but it was perfect for our needs. The rooms were clean and comfortable the bed was awesome a full king size and the pillows were really comfortable, there was a big flat screen TV as well as an amazing heating system. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well. Breakfast was busy in the morning but we were there at the same time as a large school group, this also made the elevators very busy as well, all in all it was a wonderful stay.

If you are looking for a great place to stay near Times Square, this is the place for you! We arrived before just hoping to drop our bags somewhere, and they had our room ready!!! The ladies at the front desk were extremely nice and helpful so that left a great impression right off the bat. Sure the rooms are a little tight on space but nothing you can't manage...what do you expect in the heart of the city? The freebie breakfast was great and the complaints in previous reviews about long waits with only 2 elevators in a 36 story hotel have not materialized for us so it's been a great stay. The heart of Times Square is literally an easy 5-10 minute walk so if you want to stay somewhere close to the action that is nice, new, folks are friendly, and it won't break your budget...then check out Holiday Inn Express on West 39th Street. This place rocks!!!

When in the city I spend little time in the hotel I am staying at so the purpose and price of this hotel served my needs well. I have found Holiday Inn Express to be a great and reliable hotel chain. The location for this hotel is extremely convenient to Lincoln Tunnel, Times Square, Theater District and The Port Authority Subway entrance. The rooms are no frills, yet clean and updated. The mattress and pillows were comfortable and the heat/cooling controls were convenient and worked well. I did not have the breakfast as the line was too long, however I did notice there was not much fruit left around 8:30am. The hotel does not have it's own parking, but just around the corner is the Peach Parking garage (enter through port authority) at around $33.00 per day, which is a fair price for the city. I would highly recommend this hotel for someone looking for an affordable place to sleep while spending time in the city!

Room Tip: Request a low floor if waiting time for elevators are an issue.

Hi Sean! Thank you for your review and recommendation! We really appreciate you choosing our hotel for your accommodation needs. We apologize for the long lines in our breakfast area. We know that it tends to get a little busy around the last hour of breakfast, but hopefully you can enjoy it next time you stay with us! Thanks again and we wish you safe travels!

Overall a good experience - great location, comfortable rooms (although certainly not where you'd come for the views), gym was being renovated - but the staff were very helpful by offering me access to the Candlewood suites gym next door. What made it a good experience was the staff and levels of service... very supportive, pro-active and courteous. Great breakfast too.

We usually wudnt stay at a budget hotel when we're on holiday, but this one really surprised us! So clean, no noise in the corridors and the location is to die for! We were staying practically 3 minutes walk to the main times square, 1 minute to the port authority bus station (really handy and you can save loads instead of taxis and so easy to use!) at the end of the day new York is a city that never sleeps so why stay at an expensive hotel when u just wanna sleep. But when your here it's hard to sleep. Well done holiday inn express!

Excellent hotel, everything we hoped for for the price. Room was easily big enough for 4 adults and had everything we needed. 28th floor room but no problem with the lift as we were up early and often back latish. Very quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, especialy the pancake maker! Again, because we were up early we often came down as breakfast room opened so no queues at all. About 10 minutes walk from the centre of Times Square (heading north) or 34th Street and Penn Station (heading south). Free use of computers in the hotel and free WiFi.

I had a look at reviews online before arriving and wasn't expecting much as some of the were pretty negavtive. However, I found it promising that the manager took the time to reply to every message! I've been to NYC twice before and we stayed at The Manhattan Central (A lot more expensive) and to be honest I found the service/accomodation at the Holiday Inn Express much better! We arrived at the hotel before check in time and the concierge took our cases while we began exploring. First impressions are everything and my first impression was excellent! Reception staff were so welcoming and extremely polite - Nothing was too much for them! Our room was on the 14th floor and was IMMACULATE. We had our rooms cleaned everyday and fresh towels left. The rooms were basic but to be honest if your in NYC - how long are you expecting to spend in the room? Beds are massive and far too comfy! Excellent location literally a 5 minute walk from Times Square and plenty of good restaraunts close by. Yes, the lifts did take a little while but the longest we ever waited was 9 minutes which wasn't as bad as some people described! There is a saying that goes " You only get what you pay for" In this case - We got more than we paid for! Thanks to all staff at The Holiday Inn for helping us to have an amazing trip! Without a doubt will stay here again :)
