Our family of four adults thoroughly enjoyed our tour of food establishments in the Village. Despite the bitter cold and wind of late December, our tour guide Barri was cheerful and attentive. She led us to 8 establishments (out of a list of 34) over three hours, including Joe's Pizza (deliciously spare, high quality), Soy and Sake (creative vegetarian), Home (gourmet mac and cheese), Milk and Cookies Bakery (oatmeal chocolate chip), and Rocco's Pastries (cannoli). The highlight for us was Murray's Cheese Shop on Bleecker, with over 300 varieties of cheese from Europe and the USA, where we sat upstairs and sampled a half dozen. Barri gave historical and architectural information along the way. Only downside was the weather, for we had to stay outside some places while we sampled.

I have no taken two tours with Foods of NY and one with a rival company. The quality, efficiency and overall atmosphere of the Foods of NY tours are unparalleled. The three hours flies by, even on a super cold day. The tour guides are interesting and make sure you get plenty of information, food and can always direct you to a bathroom. I highly recommend this tour for tourists, foodees and even New Yorkers. You gain a great sense of the history and culture of NY all while eating delicious food.

Drop the shopping bag and forget 5th Avenue. The Statue of Liberty will be there tomorrow and so will the Empire State Building. This walking / dining tour of Greenwich Village made me realize just how amazing Manhattan is. There is a whole city beyond Times Square. One that is more interesting and more fun than fighting the crowds at a Yankees game. Our group ranged in age from 13 to 55 and we all agreed that this was one of our more enjoyable events over our Christmas holiday in NYC. It was cold and windy but our guide Sephrah made it so much fun. The food was fantastic. I never knew Palma on Cornelia street existed. Nor did I know how cool a cheese shop could be...Murray's is awesome! Pizza? I'll never at a Sbarro's or any of the other 500 "Original" Ray's again. There is some danged good pizza in Greenwich village. Milk & Cookies is an incredible bake shop. OMG. I could have rubbed those cookies all over me. That might sound sketchy...but you should taste those cookies! Take this tour. Pray that you get Sephrah for your guide (amazing, thoughtful, funny, informative, adorable) and get ready to just fall in love with Bleeker St.

Even though it had snowed 10 inches the night before, the tour was on and our guide (Kurt) brought his "A" game. I'm not sure he quit talking for more than a 10 minutes. He used to live in the area and gave us an insiders view and while he touted his favorites he reminded us that man of the other places not on the tour were great choices. It's not a ton of food but we weren't hungry after either. The price is cheap for NYC and you'll get a "taste" of what NYC has to offer.

Several years ago the people from our office (a small accounting firm in NJ) took the Greenwich Village Tour. We had such a good time that last month we took the Chelsea Market/Meatpacking District Tour. It was a rainy day, but somehow it didn't make a difference. Our tour guide, Curt, was the best. He shared very iinteresting information about the Chelsea District . We experienced a side of New York that we didn't know existed even though we are all frequent visitors to New York City. The food we sampled along the way was excellent and more than enough. This tour is great for groups of family members or friends, or just meeting some interesting people from all over the world. We plan on taking another tour with Foods of New York in the near future!
