“Unexpected bargain in NYC!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

My two grand-daughters and I stayed here when the hotel we originally booked was unable to accommodate us. Considering what we paid ($100 for a double-double with private bath) it was an amazing bargain.

Pros: Room was quite large by NYC standards, with two comfortable double beds, a tiny private bath, a flat-screen TV and telephone in room. Very clean. Hotel had a nice comfortable lounge with free WiFi and a bar open from 5pm - 1am. The place is decorated in a pseudo-Morrocan theme. Right next to the subway (the 1 line) on 103rd street, lots of restaurants around. Room had a ceiling fan and also an air conditioner, which we used - even though it was January, the room was very hot.

Cons: There is NO elevator and our room was on the 5th floor. Room had no bedside light, only the overhead light, which was rather dim. No coffee or tea available. Even though our room was on the 5th floor, we were in the front of the building facing Broadway and it was still quite noisy.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing away from Broadway and on one of the lower floors.

This hotel is very close to the red subway, great location. The rooms were a little bit to small, not very soundproof and the wifi was very slow. Not many power points so bring a extension cord.
Fresh and nice with Starbucks right beside.

Room Tip: The four beds room are very small just so you know.

The Lobby is okay but the hallways are incredibly tight and not very well illuminated, and then the room it was not good at all the beds where so old that the mattresses where not flat but with lumps, the bath was okay. and we did not had any problem with the staff. but the condition of the room was just unforgivable.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize you were not completely satisfied with the bed during your stay in September. I am happy to say, over the past several months, we have replaced many of the beds throughout the entire hotel as well as all the pillows and linens. We want our guests to feel completely comfortable during you stay. We hope you reconsider the Marrakech Hotel if your travels bring you back to the New York area.

Sincerely,
Keith Acker

We booked a 2-bed double room on Expedia at a great rate. The room was clean and inviting, and the lounge area is a nice spot to hang out. The location is a few blocks from Smoke Jazz & Supper club. Upper West side location. Room cleaning was excellent. Beds are comfortable and on the firm side. If you are looking for a large chain experience, this is not you spot. But for a 3-star that feels closer to a four-star (at a two-star price), this is your place! Boutique hotel for cheap! Thank you, Marrakech management!!

We stayed here for 6 nights. The plus sides the hotel is on a pleasant street , and the subway is in easy walking distance. The room was small but fine for what you pay for.
The things that let it down ...the internet connection was basically non existent and its hard to get a space in Starbucks next door ..another thing there's NO LIFT!! And while visiting NYC you do a lot of walking ... It's a real killer if your on the top floor !!! ..

Hi
I'd like to say this hotel I found was the cheapest by far in Manhattan.
Hotel is on the west side of Central Park (5 minutes walking distance)
I would recommend!
rooms are really warm sometimes a bit to warm. shower is great! Plenty of hot water!
5minutes taxi/train to Times Square

This hotel experience far exceeded my expectations. Very convenient location and inexpensive for where it is located. My only gripe is the fact that I couldn't access the internet in my room but luckily I had internet through my service provider. Very comfortable bed and room, small, but very comfortable. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to NYC.

Room Tip: If you want a room bigger than the standard then request it but prepare to pay a little more.
