“Great location with friendly staff”

Very central. Close to everything really. Had a view of the Empire state building from one of our bedrooms so pretty at night. Free breakfast, no soy milk or gluten free options but there is a deli next door if you need these things and it was good choice of muffins etc. The rooftop is fantastic, if you don't like open spiral stairs then maybe just eat in the lounge but its worth going up there. The staff are wonderful, very helpful and friendly. The rooms are of a decent size, free wifi and the bathroom was art deco. Very trendy. Bring your ipod as there is a docking station in the room. Overall would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a 'room with a view' on the higher floors

A great find! The customer service was excellent and the rooms comfortable. Would definitely stay here again and again. Did I mention the free breakfast?!

The doorman and the front desk could not have been friendlier. Very accommodating.

Very central !!! the Morgans was the perfect choice for us. For NY a good combination, clean, quiet, and in the morning a good start with good breakfast.

10 min to go to the Empire SB
10 to Byrant Park
15 to Times Square
20 to Rockefeller Center

Thank you for your kind review. You are so kind to give walking times to various locations. For New Yorkers, The Empire State Building and Bryant Park are both about 3 minutes from the hotel, but we walk very quickly!

We just returned from a most wonderful week in NY.
we booked Morgans Hotel throgh Agoda which were not very helpful.
after we made the reservation the voucher we recived said breakfast was not included (this was after we made sure breakfast is included in the offer).
I wrote an e-mail to the hotel explaining the story and also explained that my boyfriend and I are coming to NY to our honeymoon and that its really important for us that everything will be perfect.

I recieved an e-mail back from the very very nice Robert (which I met him later) saying breakfast is indeed included and that we will be upgraded to a suite free of charge.

Staff was amazing. Sarah Welcomed us on the 4th of July and gave us a very spesific explanation about the Macy's Fireworks :) we had a very good time. she also reccomanded on a few very good restaurants. Tom from the consierge desk was also very helpful when we asked him to book some restaurants for us. and also Jhonny the sweet bellboy :)

Breakfast is very rich. 2/3 kinds of cerial, cupcakes, coffee/tea/milk etc. it was located in the rooftop on the 18th floor and the view is amazing.
later that week they moved breakfast to the Lobby Lounge which is also very nice and warm and comfortable. minus the view..

Location is good. not great. there is the M1 bus write outside the hotel.
Subways are 3-4 blocks away.. not so bad.

The room was very comortable.
there was a tiny problem with the water draining in the shower.. needs to be checked (room 1507). the elevators are a bit slow.. so be patient :)

altogether we had a great time in NYC. great experience in Morgans Hotel.

Yes, we have moved breakfast down to the Lounge and the vast majority of our guests are finding that it is more comfortable now with plenty of space to spread out and read the paper!

Location: This is my 4th visit to New York. Generally I prefer a location in midtown above 42nd street. The Morgans hotel however is located between 38th and 37th, so for me the location wasn’t ideal on paper. In practice though, it was a short walk from Grand Central station. Not ideal – but not terrible.

Renovation note: My stay was in early June in the middle of renovations. It was a shock to see renovations during the stay having not been informed of the fact prior to arriving. But it was expected to have been finished by mid to late June. I suspect if you’re reading this now, the renovations have already finished.

Staff: In light of renovations, the staff should have found the working conditions difficult. I would be stressed if I were working in the same conditions. However, the staff were extremely professional and helpful. This was also true of their sister hotel in the Morgan’s chain – the Mondrian South Beach. With these two experiences, I will be certain to choose more Morgans chains from now on.

Rooms: The hotel is very old and cramped (not too uncommon for New York). We were upgraded to a larger room on the floor being renovated for our first night. The staff were very quick to apologise for the location, and ensured were were upgraded to a higher floor suite for the following two nights as a form of apology for putting us our. The suite rooms are superb. They have a separate bedroom, living room and bathroom. A lot of space for unpacking. It’s worth the extra. There are only two suites per floor, with one facing the street and one facing the rear (no view). Avoid the 4th floor rear suite at all costs (the room we had the first night). I heard from one staff member that it’s referred to as the bat cave. Although it might be one way of getting a suite for the cost of a normal room. It’s a great room, but even if it’s bright outside you could mistaken it for being the middle of the night.

Would I stay again: I’d like to review comments post renovation. If I could avoid the “bat cave” room, I’d possibly stay again. Although price depending, I would probably choose a hotel further north.

Other notes:
I must give many thanks to the staff in this wonderful hotel. They really went above and beyond which in light of renovation is an amazing feat. Other hotels should take note and follow the lead shown by the Morgans.

Thank you so much for your kind and very inspiring words. It is never easy to open a new venue in a hotel but thankfully, you are right, it has happened! The Lounge is ready and we are serving breakfast there. Soon it will open in the evenings for cocktails and will feature an amazing menu!

The true test of endurance comes during difficult times, not easy times when things are going well. We stuck together and tried to give our guests the best stay possible. For the most part, it was seamless although the 'back of house' activity was challenging.

Thank you for your support. It makes it all worth it...

Very nice property with awesome staff! I traveled to NYC with 3 friends for a girls birthday weekend. We made our reservations at Morgans without knowing a lot about it. After the reservations were made, we found out the lobby and bar were under renovation. When we called to express our concern, the manager promised us a great visit. Upon arrival, we learned we had been upgraded to suites! Great birthday surprise.
The suites were wonderful. And, the free continental breakfast was yummy. This hotel is in a great location for easy access to subway and walking to attractions. Highly recommended! I can't wait to return.

The hotel is in an excellent location- walking distance to subways, shopping, NY Public Library, and Times Square. This part of town is not great for nightlife so choose a different area if this is what you are looking for. (Although subways are awesome in nyc of course & taxis plentiful) The hotel is not well marked at all- just look for the 237 marked on the building but don't expect to see the name Morgan's written on the building. The staff was very friendly, warm, & helpful. The building itself is a little run down and the carpeting needs to replaced badly in the lobby, rooms, & the penthouse breakfast area. Although it was kept clean, the carpets are covered with old stains which makes the hotel feel much less nice than it actually is. The beds were very comfortable and the views of the Empire State Building were lovely. The free breakfast was a big plus- coffee, tea, fruits, croissants, & bagels all very good. I would definitely recommend the hotel though- great value & nice staff!

Good day and thank you for your review! Well you must have been here just prior to moving our Breakfast from the Penthouse to the Lounge. It was the very last week and to be perfectly honest, I was not going to change the carpet the week before the renovation of the Penthouse. Also, our original geometric patterned carpet designed by Andree Putman is back in the Lobby. What you saw was temporary and I do apologize!

We no longer serve our breakfast in the Penthouse - it is now served in the Lounge which is more comfortable and a brand new setting.

Hope that you will return to try it some day!
