“Comfortable but noisy”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

Spent 2 weekend nights this month. Have stayed here before and found the one bedroom suite to be comfortable and spacious. Our only issue is that the rooms facing Lexington Ave tend to be very noisy. Would suggest requesting a room not facing Lex, Also the rooms are not usually ready at 3pm so plan accordingly. Great location for shopping at Bloomies and for walking over to see the holiday windows.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Lexington are noisy.

Not been able to stay at the hotel - fully booked but did have Christmas Dinner there. Tried hard to track down a Christmas Turkey dinner and having eaten at the FItz Grand Central on a previous trip emailed the enquiry. Swift reply giving provisional menu was followed up by a confirmation booking. 4 course meal, traditional Turkey followed by Irish coffee superb. The Fitz delivered a 5* meal in a cosy warm, small select dining area. Minor details - cheap Xmas crackers let it down also no roast potatoes. But we couldn't have chosen better! Walk in Central Park beforehand.Home from home perfect Christmas Day.

The business model of many hotels in cities seems to be grand foyers with bars and/or restaurants, but with tiny postage stamp sizes rooms. It is a model intended to maximize revenue to the hotel. For the guest, you do have a certain hip, cool vibe, but you sacrifice personal comfort in the room itself

Then there is The Fitzpatrick.

The Fitzpatrick has no grand entrance per se, but you are greeted personally by two attendants. There is a small restaurant bar area to the right, but nothing really spectacular.

The room, however, is large by New York standards with an actual living area and a large bedroom both with TVs. You actually have a shower large enough.... to shower in

One small tip: I should stop saying hotels are convenient in New York, because it depends on what part of the city is appealing to you. That being said, the Fitzpatrick is on the very busy thoroughfare, Lexington Street. I would advise a room in the back of the hotel if possible

Room Tip: Pick a room in the back if possible

We visited for three nights and they surprised us with a room upgrade! Rooms were clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. The staff was polite and friendly (even gave my little boy a toy taxi cab). Restaurant was great for breakfast and night cap. Will definitely stay here again. It was the perfect Christmas trip!

Wonderful hotel can't say enough good things. Good location, big rooms friendly service. On site restaurant and bar was terrific also. We have been to NYC several times in different areas of Manhattan and this was our favorite spot so far. Thanks Ftiz for the great stay!

Room Tip: spend a little extra on the suite room worth it!

The hotel is very cozy. You are greeted intermediately by the staff. We meet the lady in housekeeping who was just as nice and very kind. It is a perfect location to shopping-Bloomingdale's, 5th Ave, etc. We walked everywhere. The restuarant within the hotel was pricey, traveled with 2 teenager girls. As you exit the hotel to the left 2 doors down on the same side of the street was a GREAT breakfast, lunch and dinner shop. Had the best breakfast-pastry, eggs, coffee-wonderful.
Why i gave the hotel such a high rating. One of our girls left a VERY EXPENSIVE coat in the closet, we called 3 weeks later, they still had the jacket, we were amazed. They promised they would ship the coat to us after the holiday. Amazing!!! There are still honest people around.

This hotel is absolutely brilliant. When you arrive in the busy city of New York for the first time you are told don't look up! Of course the first thing you do is what? Right! you look up, and it takes a while before you stop. If you are looking for a boutique hotel in New York then look no further because Fitzpatrick's really fits the bill. Located on the corner of Lexington and 57th this hotel is in a great location and is just a nice stroll to Central Park, 5th Avenue and Bloomingdales. We certainly found the location, accomadation, staff and food excellent. Every time you arrive back at the hotel it feels like the reception staff have just been waiting for you. The rooms are well proportioned and the beds are really very comfortable. There are some big named hotels in New York but what we liked about Fitzpatrick's is that your stay feels personal. They are very good at what they do and make you feel special. We can't wait to go back. (P.S. If you get the chance when you come out of the hotel turn left and walk for about 1km to Central Station, go in and take a look around it's well worth it).

Room Tip: Rooms can be very hot so leave a window open while you are out.
