“Poor stay for the price”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here 6 times with work and will never go back! Service is poor with the worst bar in New York and a bar man who compensates for the stale beer with American Irish sayings, top of the morning when you come in at night. everything from the bell boys running out to flag u a cab to the charging you to watch a rugby game in the bar seems to be about squeezing the last buck out of you. The rooms are big, stayed in the suites and unlike other New York hotels, have coffee and tea machines and Turn down service.
Breakfast is not a full Irish at all and really overpriced.
If three or four of you are coming book a suite and then you can get the best out of it but if not leave this one go.

Dear Bensers,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review and i am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the hotel.

It is part of the duties of the Bellmen to hail cabs for guests and if we see a guest outside the hotel trying to hail a cab then the Bellmen would be expected to go out and assist. I apologize if you found this intrusive.

In relation to charging to watch a rugby match, this ervice is provided by a third party vendor who charges the fee directly to each person who wishes to watch the game. They collect the fee directly and the hotel does not benefit from any fee collection.

The rashers and sausages used in our Irish breakfast our sourced from Irish companies.

Thank you for your comments and I hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you to a Fitzpatrick family hotel in the future.

Kind regards,

Shane Cookman

My fiancee and I stayed at the Fitzpatrick for four days in preparation for a trip to Ireland because this hotel is Irish owned and operated. As soon as we mentioned our trip, several staff members including Chris, Aoife, Ciaran and David gave us wonderful suggestions on places that we should see and things that we should do there. Chris and Aoife even met with us one on one for over an hour and helped us plan our trip day by day! They printed us maps to and from the various locations, helped us buy train tickets online and set us up with a discounted rate hotel reservation in Ireland! When we arrived in Ireland, Chris also left a message with our hotel confirming our reservations. They were absolutely fantastic!! The Fitzpatrick was definitely one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had before! In addition to the absolutely fantastic staff, the rooms itself are very clean and comfortable. We didn't experience any noise problems and the beds are quite comfortable. It's also walking distance to both Central Park and Times Square and there's a subway station a few blocks away. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in New York. If I do return to the city, I will definitely be visiting the Fitzpatrick again. Thanks for everything!! :)

We stayed for 4 nights in February. The suite rooms for families are a very good size and we had plenty of space. It was also nice not to be in a large chain hotel - the Fitz definitely has a more personal touch.

The downside was that we were on the 4th floor facing Lexington and it sounded as though the windows were open all of the time. I'm not sure why they haven't fitted a second window inside the first to cancel the noise. We could also hear and feel the subway trains on the 4th floor - I guess it could be better higher up but after a few days of walking the streets sightseeing we managed to start sleeping through the noise anyway.

Hotel is in a good location and close to a couple of subway stations. There is a restaurant/bar in the hotel and plenty of diners and restaurants nearby if, like our kids, yours prefer to eat out and try something different every day.

We only resorted to a Starbucks once - for some reason most Starbucks in NY only have 2 or 3 tables. If you want to sit down, go into the mall underneath the offices at 53rd Street Subway Station and go up to Barnes and Noble. In there is a large Starbucks with plenty of seating.

Room Tip: Don't get a lower floor room facing Lexington Ave

Stayed for one week and havn't got a bad thing to say about this hotel. I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff working here, so polite & friendly & if you have any problems or questions they are extremely helpful. Loved the restaurant which served varied & fantastic food, with a great bar also! The location is great with Times Square & Central Park at a walkable distance, as long as you don't get sidetracked with all the shops! A beautiful hotel without fault in my opinion. Even with the heavy snow at the end of the holliday, the staff were on hand to check our flights were ok. Thank you so much, will definately come back!!

Stayed for five nights and loved every min of it. Been to NYC a few times and will definitely be back a this great wee hotel. Service is first class, rooms are typical NYC small nut its only really somewhere to put you head. Highly recommended for staying in NYC as the location is fantastic! Just beside Central Station and not in the hussel and bussel of Times Square!!

Mary & I & Tony & Rosaleen Horan recently stayed in Fitzpatricks in Manhattan.
The hotel is centrally located & the staff are friendly & the food is excellent.

When they found out that we got engaged they gave us a complimentary bottle of the finest Champagne which was a lovely gesture.

The assistant general manager, Chris O sullivan was extremely helpfull & couldnt do enough for us to make our trip a memorable experience & if you are visiting NY we would highly recomend staying at Fitzpatricks.

Its seldom that a hotel makes a holiday but on this occasion the FitzPatrick certainly made our weekend visit to New York very special. From the time we arrived and met the assistant Manager, Chris, we were made to feel at home. When he heard that we had travelled from Ireland, and were there as part of a 50th birthday celebration, we were treated as VIP guests.
After a day on the town visiting sites etc, some recomended by Chris, we would retire to the bar with our friendly barman Dave, and the occasional visit from Chris, for a night of chat, banter and good craic. On our second night Chris escorted us to the bar where he made cocktails for us to enjoy'
A very special thanks to Chris, Dave and all the staff for a special weekend stay.
We would defenitely reccomend The FitzPatrick to anybody looking for a central, friendly and relaxing stay in New York
