This is one of the original W's. They are almost thru with renovations. Overall, did a good job with a relative old building.

Location is very ideal and the room sizes are not bad by New York standard. The bathroom is modernized but small by todate's standard howver functional. We stayed in a fantastic suite which is just about 540 SF into a bedroom and living room. Its only a quen bed but its the Heavenly bed with nice sheets. Decor is modern with a walk-in closet in the living room and a decent size closet in the bedroom.

The check-in process is slow but the staffs are friendly. The lobby bar is nice but always busy.

Lots of places to eat near-by and subway is right at the corner.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors and view of Lexington

My friend and I just stayed at the W New York on Lexington Ave. It's a very short walk from Grand Central Station. We arrived around 10 p.m. so the bar in the lobby was hopping and loud, so it was a little hard to hear the reservation desk. However, all staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a room with 2 queen beds. Very clean and simple. Noise wasn't too bad at all for sleeping. I requested a wake-up call, and actually got a person and not an automated system. In the morning, they offered a free car service to take us to the 9/11 Memorial. It's marketing through Acura, but definitely a plus and a nice ride! We were able to leave our bags there and pick them up before we caught the train home. We would definitely stay here again.

What has happened with W? It used to be a quit trendy hotel but now days it an average.
The cleaning is poor, the are no heat what so ever in the room and there is no breakfast to talk about. If you plan to go there in january take an extra blanket with you.

Derron, doorman at the W went above and beyond to assist and , at the same time provided an experience beyond compare.The rest of the staff performed well but Derron provided unparallelled service. The W is an Oasis in the city

My stay at the hotel could have been better. As it was my first time here, I had some good expectations that were not met. First would be an upgrade to a large room, after all I am a Platinum Member. Upon entering the room I almost wanted to go out and make my check out immediately, so small was the room. On the other hand, I imagined. They must have made a mistake. I called the front desk and spoke to them at 23:05 a receptionist confirmed that, “yes sir you received an upgrade to the room "spectacular" in a ironic tone and asked "why do you wanna know?"... well, spectacular, there was nothing! I mean, just the name of the room.
On the other side, the hotel is well located in front of the Waldorf Astoria, which is where I stay and I usually get fantastic upgrades. It´s easy to go everywhere with a bunch of great restaurant and shops.
There were many people in the hotel bars, loud music and good quality.
It is a hotel that unfortunately does not meet my high standards and I do not intend to stay here again.

I booked a mid level room and could hear my neighbors baby wake up, talk, eat and lots of other lovely interactions with the parents. Walls are paper thin. The lobby was also a little rough around the edges, such as stained couches. I think the W has lost its luster.

Peter is excellent and always takes care of his customers. I have been to the W bar several times and he is always friendly and provides great service. I enjoy my stay even more because of the great service he provides. Keep up the great work on excellent customer service!
