What a great place - wish I could live here! I've come here for years (since it was the Madison Ave Hotel, before The Mark), stayed at the Mandarin Oriental or Ritz Carlton while they were closed for renovations. So glad they're back! Same understated elegance with upscale furnishings & state of the art features.

The best part of staying here is being in NYC but feeling like you're home. As soon as you walk in the front door you're home - but close enough to all of NYC to appeciate.Upper East side location offers a respite from the craziness of downtown - 1 block away from Central park, just off Madison Ave (great shopping). All staff (from front desk to concierge to bellstaff to housekeeping to room service & all others are wonderful, & will make your stay the absolute best!!!!

I feel bad giving it a great review, because I want it to stay un-discovered so I have no problem going back....but I want to be honest here. If you’re going to NYC & have the $ go here!!!!

The accommodations are exquisite; the service almost intuitive.
Jetlag does not matter on a bed like that!!
From the moment we arrived, to departure, we were treated like VIPs.
The concierge that was able to organise everything from dinner reservations at Jean Georges at our preferred time when fully booked and able to source a specific champagne and vintage. Nothing was too big or too small.
Nothing was overlooked, nothing too much trouble.
We travel frequently, but it will be hard for any hotel to compare after a week at The Mark NY.

This hotel has been completely refurbished. The rooms are great - a mix of art deco and high tech (the photos on the web site don't do them justice) and the staff helpful and friendly. Convenient for the Met, Guggenheim etc and easy to get a taxi anywhere else. Thoroughly recommended.

The Mark Hotel has been recently refurbished and I hesitated because it was lovely old European style hotel before with a wonderful lounge/bar and I hoped it's elegant yet understated ambiance wouldn't be ruined. But I have to say that the refurbishment is amazing and that they have done an excellent job. It is thoroughly modern, yet elegant with all the 'bell and whistles' of the 21st century. there's TV in the bathroom that is 'implanted' into the mirror....really cool! the bathrooms are state of the art. The power shower gives a new meaning to "power showers" I'm not even sure that kind of power is legal in NY. it was wonderful though. Our room was so nice and tastefully decorated that my boyfriend was considering redecorating his bedroom and bathroom in the same decor. the decoration, colors and amenities really gave the room a feeling of warmth and comfort even though it was not very large. It was a good size room though...for New York. In terms of the service although we did not use it much, I expect it was impeccable. certainly the concierge and front desk staff were wonderful and extremely efficient. they quickly got us tickets for a major Broadway show, although we did pay over the top price for the tickets.
The location of the Mark Hotel is to me the best ting about it. It's away from the bustling hustling crowds and chaos of New York City, situated in the an elegant and fairly quiet area in the upper east side. You're not made to feel like a tourist up here but rather like a resident of the neighborhood.
If you are looking for quiet discreet elegance then this hotel is perfect. Also if you are a cultural buff, then you will be within short walking distance to most of the major important museums of New York. And of course there is the shopping!!
I thoroughly recommend this Hotel to our European and international visitors with plenty of money. The fine restaurants, the upscale designer shopping, the culture and sophistication is spot on. One can always go slumming it down town or further uptown and then come back to the quiet repose of the Mark Hotel.
I understand they are are about to open up a five star restaurant on their premises. we will be coming back. Really 'cool' place . We loved it!

We stayed at The Mark for 1 night over Labor day weekend. The hotel had just reopened recently. During the time of our stay, it was their "soft opening" phase, where the hotel was not fully completed (restaurant, gym, bar, and hair salon were still under construction).
We were a little skeptical because the hotel was very expensive, even at a discounted price, however, we were blown away with the design and comfort of the hotel and room.
We were particularly pleased with the service that Andrea, the reception manager, showed to us. He showed us to our room and explained how everything worked.
Our room was immaculate and quite honestly the best we've ever stayed in (including Vegas). I'm not sure how the hotel looked before they closed for 2 years, but whatever happened, it was given a complete makeover.
The rooms were enormous and very modern in design. The closet space could accommodate anyone staying for about a month. The bathroom was all marble; the tub was long and deep enough for 2 people (I think), and separate shower big enough to fit a party of 5. There was a TV in the mirror of the bathroom vanity, which was very cool.
There was a telephone, scale, towel warmer, and professional hairdryer all just in the bathroom.
The room itself could be controlled by a universal remote control. The remote controlled the electric shades over the windows, the large LCD TV, Blu Ray DVD player, lights, and air conditioning.
Along with complimentary snacks (like pretzels, candy, soda, and water) we were also given a box of cookies that came from a restaurant down the street. Included in the price of the hotel was also a complimentary breakfast, which was great.
Overall we couldn't have been happier with our stay at The Mark. And if possible, it's going to be even more amazing once it's fully completed!
