i just spend 2 days staying at the Mark and every moment was delight.
The location is perfect in the UES, word famous Madison, next to MET, FRICK and off course Central Park. Needless to say perfect for shopping, dining and hanging out.
After a short wait to check in, i was taken to my room ( Madison king who was supposed to be 500 sqft but i think was rather 400 sqf ..).
The room is quite immaculate and polish with high tech ( BO tv, Creston for lights shades..), the bathroom was great but the bath products ( no name) were absolutly not up to the standard of this hotel and i told the reception manager that they should rapidly improve that ( specially, when a few blocks away in Madison, you have Asprey...). The gym is good.
The Bar is also fancy and nicely decorated ( Jacques Grange) but they need there improvements in the cocktails....
I was really impressed by the concierge Gilles who was amazing, very helpful ,patient, booking several restaurants and always giving a good advice.
Over all impression; near perfect .

Great location, great service, great staff. Our whole experience with this hotel was fantastic. It's one block from central park, so walking is very easy and it's relatively close to restaurants and cafes.

My wife and I stayed for five nights at the end of May. Our stay formed part of a six week journey around the southern states of the USA, and partly the base for a larger family celebration.
We choose 'The Mark' for its location and reputation. It did not disappoint on the former. The location is fantastic for exploring the art galleries and museums on the east side and Central Park. Just walk out the hotel and turn right.
With regard to the hotel itself we had a courtyard room on the 8th floor. It was excellent; quiet;large comfortable bed, lots of wardrobe storage and an absolutely stunning bathroom. The only downside for us was the 'Creston' room control system. We had a number of issues during our stay relating to the air-conditioning and television controls. Although we had a couple of visits by maintenance the system was still giving problems when we left.
The quality of service we received during our stay was very mixed. Breakfast was excellent but the service haphazard, and painfully slow on a number of mornings. The doormen were very polite, friendly and helpful with a plentiful supply of umbrellas when the rain arrived on a couple of afternoons. This contrasted with the concierge service which we found extremely unhelpful, even arrogant. Requests for assistance in sorting out some issues relating to a brief visit to Washington during our stay were answered with a 'can't do' rather than 'can do' attitude. Even a request for assistance booking a local restaurant for lunch became a major issue. In the end we made our own arrangements; it was easier.
We will definitely stay when we next visit New York. Will we recommend 'The Mark'? Definitely yes, but it comes at a price.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Mark Hotel. Wonderful and competent reception staff (particularly many thanks to Julita Kropiwnicki) made us feel as at home, once we could enjoy all hotel awesome facilities and perfect location next to Central Park. An attention to details that you can only see in top notch hotels (cleanliness, politeness and timing response of staff, decor, facilities). No issue with the early check after long haul flight was a relief! The next few days of our stay there remained in the same style of friendly service and understated elegance.
The Mark is for meaningful memories and a place to call home when you are in NYC. We will be definitely back there.

We did a lot of research for our trip to new york having planned it for years. To summarise the hotel we felt the room was amazing as was the housekeeping!!! Cleaning and nighttime treatment were amazing. reception were friendly and helpful, even when it was something they hadn:t handled before eg kareoke. gym was fantastic, our only letdown was the restaurant, My husband is a chef with high expectations and was so excited to eat in a 2 michelin star place. so i agreed for our final day, service was exceptional, food not so, starters were great bains not so, he had veal which looked like kfc my pizza was burnt to a crisp. i actually left the burnt base for
the waiters to find but hey ho anyway here wwe go......

Both me and my husband admire Upper East Side and on each our trip back to New York City we try to stick to that disctrict specifically. This time we have chosen The Mark because of all glorious reviews, its location and its Leading Hotel of the World status (my husband has a membership with LHW.com).
However, when we arrived to the hotel the staff by some reason did not even know (neither they bother to double check) that the reservation has been made through LHW.com website. It is not fatal of course, but on the other hand explaining the hotel staff how and by which resourse the reservation was made and what is our membership number etc. is not what you expect to get from a Leading Hotel of the World after a 10-hours flight. When things had been resolved several minutes later, we were accompanied to our room which was spacious, bright and had a view on the Madison Avenue. Here comes the room tip: I would not advice you booking a Madison Avenue rooms at this hotel as all of them look at a strange high white building located on the other side of the Madison Avenue, so if you do not want to end up with someone starring in your windows from across the street, book a courtyard or 77th Street rooms.
Coming back to the room itself, I would add that the bathroom seemed a bit dated and equipment rusty in some places; bathroom amenities not of the best quality at all which made me go to the closest 24-hour pharmacy at 5 a.m. to get some decent shampoo and wash gel.
The breakfasts are ok - not of the widest variety we had in some other places, but rather well prepared at least.
All in all the place has left us with a bitter taste of frustration - it's all about "a bit": beautifully decorated rooms, but a bit dated bathrooms, lots of staff, but a bit slow and not really caring service, famous Jean George's on site, but a bit poor breakfasts. And it is your right to decide whether the glass is half full or half empty. We thought latter.
