“Great Regional Cuisine.”
Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

The food was Americanized but still a great experience.

Their Singaporean Noodles are excellent. We had the spicy soft shell crab appetizer, also excellent.

Their pineapple ginger martini is awesome!!!

Great atmosphere. Mostly young people and a bit loud. If you are comfortable in that scenario then you will find this place a true hotspot.

“Malaysian Fusion-- good food and fun”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

This was a very happening restaurant near Union Square that had excellent asian cuisine. There were the noted curry puffs and Thai Chicken Satay and wings but then it had Pork rolls and various seafood and noodle combinations as well as entrees such as Duck, pork Chops, Halibut/Salmon served with brown or white rice.

It was such a fun atmosphere with lots of laughter. One of the waiters looked and acted just like one of characters from the movie Hangover. He was just so fun and funny. There was also the fun touch of the lights going off for a person's birthday and then the staff coming out with ice cream with candles lit in it and the birthday person gonging the Chinese Gong!

“Could have been good”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

The prices and selection here are good and the food was good too. However, I ordered a chicken with basil and chilli and there was about 8 large pieces of tofu (they tried to disguise it as chicken) and 4 small bits of chicken. I assumed they'd made a mistake so asked them if this was correct and the waitress was quite rude and said it was chicken and pointed to the 4 small pieces on my plate. I pointed out that it was mainly tofu on there (I hate tofu) and she said if I paid a couple of dollars more they'd give me chicken. This was quite bad customer service I thought - and really bad loading the dish with tofu when it was supposed to be a chicken dish. If I'd had chicken it would have been good. The starter of chilli squid was really nice - just a shame about their attitude and the main dish.

“Great experience”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

We were in NYC during Thanksgiving Week. Restaurants were busy everywhere throughout Manhattan. We really enjoyed our dining experience at Laut's. It was recommended by a number of New Yorkers and did not disappoint. Food was quick, nicely presented, and tasty. Definitely will seek it out again when in the area.

“Nice Meal - Reasonable Prices”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

On our visit to New York this past weekend we had dinner at Laut. This is a very good Aisian restaurant located near Union Square. They were very accomodating. We were a group of five and a large table was not available at the time of our booking so they allowed us to be seated at a smaller table until a larger more comfortable space was available. it is not often you would ge this courtesy and it was nice

The food is tasty. We ordered a few apptizers and several entres for the table. Thje signature starter is a fried bread that you dip into a curry sauce. This is a little unusual but everyone loved it. I would reccomend starting with this.

We had a curry chicken dish , wide noodles, fried rice, and one of the special comfination entres. it was all very well prepared and everyone in our party was satisfied. The menu is extensive and has a variety of different Aisian specialties. Plenty of food!

The wine list is not extnsive but it is completely adequate for Aisian food. We ordered an Argentinian white that worked really well with the collection of dishes we ordered. The prices are reasonable. Including the wime the bill was about $125 for fine people - pretty decent in Midtown. It is a little loud but not bad and i would look at it as a nice satisfied buzz rather than a distraction. Go and enjoy!!
