On our visit to New York this past weekend we had dinner at Laut. This is a very good Aisian restaurant located near Union Square. They were very accomodating. We were a group of five and a large table was not available at the time of our booking so they allowed us to be seated at a smaller table until a larger more comfortable space was available. it is not often you would ge this courtesy and it was nice
The food is tasty. We ordered a few apptizers and several entres for the table. Thje signature starter is a fried bread that you dip into a curry sauce. This is a little unusual but everyone loved it. I would reccomend starting with this.
We had a curry chicken dish , wide noodles, fried rice, and one of the special comfination entres. it was all very well prepared and everyone in our party was satisfied. The menu is extensive and has a variety of different Aisian specialties. Plenty of food!
The wine list is not extnsive but it is completely adequate for Aisian food. We ordered an Argentinian white that worked really well with the collection of dishes we ordered. The prices are reasonable. Including the wime the bill was about $125 for fine people - pretty decent in Midtown. It is a little loud but not bad and i would look at it as a nice satisfied buzz rather than a distraction. Go and enjoy!!
