We stayed at the Marriott Marquis at Times Square which was enjoyable. It is a nice hotel and within walking distance to many attractions. It is also close to many subway stations which will take you anywhere you would need to go. They are clean but of course just dated. If you intend to ride it often, I would get a Metro-card that has an unlimited ride amount on it. There are some homeless and people asking for money for various reasons but that is to be expected and not a huge deal. We had a great time eating at various restaurants, seeing various sites and the people for the most part are nice and courteous. We were there during New Years Eve and waiting on the street with many others to be a part of the whole experience! Its a bucket list thing that we wanted to do and I'm glad that we did. If you decide to do this, get there no later than 12:00 pm to get a decent spot but be prepared for it. If you leave the corral for any reason that the police put you into, you cannot get back into it. We will be returning in the near future to finish some site seeing, etc.

You can't go to NYC without seeing Time Square! Our kids were blown away. We saw it both during the day and at night. It's very crowded, but we always felt safe.

Great seeing Times Square at night and during the daytime too. It was very busy both times but well worth a visit, luckily it was only a 10-minute walk from our hotel.
