You can't miss this on a trip to NYC. Just sit at broadway and 7th to watch the lights all around and spend time walking around. New York never sleeps in Times Square.

Everyone should visit and experience all that Times Square has to offer at least once in their lives. Seeing the massive TV screens and billboards on the surrounding buildings and stores illuminating the streets at night is definitely something that everyone should see. Everyone's seen it on TV or in movies, but seeing it in person is entirely different.

One of the most awesome things to do in Times Square is to sit at one of the tables in the middle of the street and just people watch. It's truly awesome seeing people from all over the world congregating together in one place.

There are also these cool food truck/tent things scattered around the street, and I STRONGLY URGE everyone to find the tent that sells ice cream sandwiches. You'll know you've found it when you see red velvet cheesecake ice cream sandwiches. These are literally the best ice cream sandwiches I've EVER had! (6/2015)

We stayed right on Times Square, and it was quite something. The billboards are just crazy huge and bright. Our room had great blackout curtains, but it’s truly like daylight all night if you go out in it. The press of tourists is absolutely bonkers. The kids absolutely ate it up. There’s lots to eat and drink and buy and see. Honestly, one trip to this pandemonium is all I really needed, but all you can say is it’s quite a sight to see.

We went 15 years ago, and I’ll say it’s really much more intense now, and the technology for the screens has made it just like Bladerunner (without the acid rain and replicants). There are cabs with digital billboards. Lots of weird knockoff characters (I definitely would not give them money) and a lot of people trying to get you to buy hop on hop off tours.

At night and on Saturday and Sunday , the crowds get so thick you can barely navigate the sidewalks, but it seems pretty safe. Lots of NYPD around. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny for your souvenirs and food and drinks. I cannot imagine going here on New Years Eve.

The big chain clothing stores seemed to have consistent pricing as back home, and at least the H&M had way more selection and sizes available. My XL (6’5”) teen was really happy to find more items.

My 11-year-old mostly just wanted stuff from the Hershey store. We all had fun.

Times Square shows the best and also the most interesting pieces of NYC. It is a place you have to walk through when you visit the big city.

Very busy and dirty, but cool to see. Don’t know if it’s worth seeing more than once. Definitely recommend going at night time to everything lit up.

First visit to NYC so had to visiit Times Square, well our Hotel was here so inevitable :-) Great place, very busy but where it is all happening pretty much all day. Lots of police visible so doesn't feel a threatening place at all. Mostly people are here to enjoy themselves.

See the lights, take in a show, go for a meal - if you aren't staying in the area then definitely worth the visit. Places are expensive but then this is the heart of the tourist area.

We loved it !!

You Have to visit times sq if your in New York. It's big and colourful. I liked the area a lot. What I didn't like we're the countless street vendors/conmen, call them what you want. They are everywhere and try putting things in your hand, even when you say no they still harrass you down the street.
Somewhat ruined our trip the Sq. If you can put up with the hassle then it's well worth a visit.
