Loved the area down by the wharf. Enjoyed the food and shopping area and especially the friendly people. Great restaurants in the area around wharf. Great food

There is enough room to move about, despite crowds, and to enjoy a bench seat and watch the boats and helicopters come and go. You also get a nice view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Walking around the shops in this area is enchanting, as you'll not only come across random art about the place, but do stop in the fabulous candy store! If you go a little "inland", especially on the weekends, you can enjoy parts of the Financial District at its quietest. Lovely area for wandering about. The tiny streets and smaller/older buildings are reminiscent of parts of London.

We found out after the visit that the construction was messing up the whole area. We even didn't notice. We had a fun time exploring, nice unique shops. Interesting vessels. Fun to photograph. Easy walking. Titanic Memorial lighthouse here.

On our walk to the Brooklyn Bridge, we stopped by the South Street Seaport. They were filming the Cinemax show The Knick on a boat, but the area is still undergoing major renovations. A sign stated that the work will be done in the summer 2015, but it looks like it may take a lot longer that. Shops and restaurants were open on the street side, but tourists may want to skip this until they are finished with construction.

The only disappointment was that building work makes it impossible to read all the information. I guess once it's finished it will be even better.
