I've been to the seaport many times throughout the years but hadn't been there in a long time. This was the first visit in over 15 years & it was for a great cause - a charity walk for Autism. It was great to be there for not only a good cause but to also be able to walk around the seaport again and see all of the stores & historical buildings. There is so much to see and do that we could have stayed there much longer but we ran out of time. You can board the tall ships, eat indoors or outside at the sidewalk cafes or just walk the cobblestone streets. There was even a restaurant that had a beach-like set up complete with sand. Definitely need to go back.

The seaport is fantastic. There are museums, shops, bars and restaurants. I am not sure how things are after the hurricane Sandy.

The South Street Seaport is rarely high on the visitor checklist, but worth a look if you're heading down to Wall St etc. Head over for a drink and a wander, nice views of the harbour and some lovely little spots for lunch/dinner. Check out the great old paper shop too (Bowne & Co)! South St Seaport and Stone St (check out Adrienne's Pizza) are the best dining options in the financial district.

The area is a busy area full of tall buildings, etc. but so many places to go get fresh seafood. Also, places to eat. Nice in the evening if you want to hang out as a couple or with friends and family. Parking is crazy, but they have a few parking lots for a "not so low" price if you don't mind.
