Description: With their 1858 landscaping plan under construction, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux began adding architectural features to their Park design. Around 1874, Vaux designed a two-story boathouse at the eastern end of the Lake. Here visitors could purchase refreshments, take boat rides, and watch other boats. After this wooden Victorian structure with sloping mansard roof burned down, the current Loeb Boathouse took its place in the 1950s. Today at the New York Boathouse visitors can enjoy a meal in any season, with overhead heating helping to extend as long as possible the pleasure of dining on the deck overlooking the Lake. Come visit a New York legend!

Visited in summer so could enjoy the restaurant's ambience and views in the best of conditions. You really pay for this rather than the food!! We had booked many days before expecting that this would ensure us a seat immediately on the lake. It did not-We were seated at the back of the restaurant. This was, to the credit of the waiter, rectified after a simple request. The meals are no better and no worse than those you would get when attending a convention so don't expect too much but as an experience I would certainly go again!!

On a freezing afternoon at end December we couldn't wait to get inside the cafe to get some respite from the cold.
We queued for approx 5 minutes at the pay and order at the counter cafe side of this large building. Nothing particularly glam about the experience, pretty functional but useful stop in the middle of Central Park.
While there we checked out the restaurant side which has lovely floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake and raised next to the restaurant in a very busy bar area. People can come for a drink or eat too. Such a pretty location I will return for a leisurely lunch one day.

Went for a walk in central park and ended up here for some beers. It´s a great place for a few beers in the sun. It was quite busy the day we visited, but we got hold of a good table, and the service was fast. Did not eat here, so can´t say anything about the food.

Lunch on 1st of jan on a beautiful sonny day we had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake (best in town) Griggtown Farm Chicken and Twin Boathouse Burgers for our daughter as well as Atlantic Monkfish. What a treat, and at a window table overlooking the lake. We were recommended this Restaurant, and will 100% do the same. Great Value
