Fabulous art collection and a nice size - enough for a good range but not so much that it blows your mind! Great clocks too

While Frick's bio may not have been very savory, his taste in art definitely was. The museum is housed in what was Frick's New York mansion - conveniently located on the city's Museum Mile - yeah Met. The super rich definitely did/do live differently from thee and me. One plus is how Frick integrated his collection into his daily living - check out the fireplace wall in the main drawing room.

We went for the special Mauritshuis exhibit and thoroughly enjoyed it - how did the masters get the lace trim and collars so detailed? In hindsight we should have rented the exhibit's audio tour.

We hope that sometime in the future the museum might open up the private rooms upstairs.

Hard to believe such a wonderful art collection has been assembled and displayed by one family. Truly incredible collection of masterpieces in a house worthy of a visit all on its own. Much less overwhelming for a quick visit than the Met. Get the audio tour.

Arrived early to see The Girl With The Pearl Earring. No line at 10:30am. One can see entire collection in 2 hours, all on one floor. A very enjoyable former home. Coffee shops and cafes outside nearby.
