“The greatest little Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

A magnificent home, turned to a Museum by a man who collected art to please the senses and will marble you with the story, the locations and the surroundings. A visit to a noble home more than a line up at a museum, an experience highly recommended.

“Romantic visions of art and education”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

The Frick is clearly a diamond in the coal of NYC Museums as its opulent rooms are filled with matching period art and furniture, so one gets the entire vision, not just a blank room with pretty pictures.

“Simply my favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

Whenever people go to NYC, I tell them to go to the Frick Museum; and of all the art museums in New York City, this is the only one I took my little girls to when we visited because I knew that if the paintings bored them, the Chinese vases and the furniture wouldn't. This is, as the Michelin Guide, once wrote, the "pearl" of New York City art museums, and I was delighted to share it with my partner on our visit to New York. Great Rembrandts, fabulous Vermeers, an exquisite Van Eyck, exemplary Van Dycks and Turners and...Bellini &...What a delight!

“A great setting to relax and enjoy art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

Unlike any US museum I had ever seen. Set in a beautiful old mansion on 5th ave, the Frick offers a relaxing environment to appreciate the Frick collect of paintings, bronzes, clocks and assorted items. Take a few minutes to sit in the central atrium around a water feature. Also a nice touch is they staggered the entry of visitors to keep the number of people reasonable inside and it worked. Also be advised coats and large bags/backpacks had to be checked (no charge though.) It helped keep things comfortable. Also they offer also at no charge a digital assistant for information on collection. A great relaxing few hours.

“An opportunity to enter a gilded age mansion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

There are such amazing works of art in here - Rembrandt, Piero della Francesca, Holbein - and the list goes on. Its a jewel crown collection, not so big as to overwhelm like the Met but genuinely well-chosen and lovely.
