“Great museum”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

Loved the place. Greatv collection in a building that is charming, not too big and not too small. Also, located across from Central Park so it's easy to enjoy the park before or after for a change of scene.

“A gem of a "small" museum..... terrific art in a beautiful setting....”
Reviewed November 17, 2012

At this museum you feel as if you have just entered someone's gorgeous home while they stepped out..... the art is displayed in this Upper East Side mansion amidst the appropriate furnishings.... from wallpaper, to sconces, to china and silverware.... amazing! There is an orientation movie to give the background of the owner, the building and the collection. I would have liked to have been directed there first. They also have headsets to explain the collection. There are also some lovely interior gardens.

“Wonderful hodge/podge of art”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

You are amazed at the variation in all the work. Very different than
a gallery or museum where you investigate the work of one artist.

“Best Museum in NYC”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

I love this Museum, it never fails to lift my spirits. The beautiful rooms display amazing works in an intimate setting. I don't have that overwhelming feeling when a Museum is too large and you can't decide where to begin. An amazing array of artists. Who could think that such a small space would have Titian, Rembrandt, Brugel the Elder, Whistler Gainsborough and much much more. Delightfully hung amongst wonderful china, silver, and furniture. The fabrics , wallpapers, embroidery and lighting enhance the experience. The internal courtyard and gardens are just wonderful.
