We enjoyed a nice dinner at this local restaurant at the end of an exhilerating and exhausting Black Friday. Staff seemed truly happy to serve us; we felt welcome the moment we walked in the door. Great NYC streetscape views through the giant windows opening onto the street (think: Nighthawks). 2 Kobe burgers were expertly cooked (and surprisingly low-priced!); fish and chicken dishes pleased us all. Delicious Belgian fries. Our server was the best! Desserts looked tasty, but we chose take-home pastries from the place across the street. Constantly changing clientele at Cinema Cafe provided plenty of fodder for conversation.

For a late night establishment, among the questionable quality eateries of the 3rd Ave, Cinema Cafe is positively distinguished by its food, menu variety and attentive service. Though reminiscent of a sports bar, with its TV screens and raucous student crowd, the food is surprisingly creative and well prepared. The prices are more than affordable for NYC, with none of the main courses reaching the $20 benchmark.
We would gladly recommend the Hanger Steak and Scottish Salmon with Broccoli Rabe. The Dumplings Sharing Plate was not as great though, but the Sliders Sharing Plate made up for the former. Both Tiramisu and the Raspberry Napoleon desserts were quite good.
We would definitely recommend it, especially for its late opening hours and the great value.

The service was excellent in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. We sat at a window table inside and thouroughly enjoyed the hustle and bustle outside while I sipped a nice red, and she, perfect gin & tonic. The individual pizza was perfect, and she enjoyed the pom frites. It was an nice contrast of the off-time lull inside and the typical buzz of walkers and traffic buzzing uptown and east on 34th. We'll be back to explore more goodies on the menu.

Watch out for your credit card at this establishment.
Had an alright Sunday prix fixe brunch (mushroom omelet + mixed drink) that should've been just shy of $20 (including a nice tip). Signed the bill and left. Credit card statement came back with a $50 charge. After a week of calling the place, they're still keeping mum.
Either pay in cash or steer clear, not an entirely honest operation.

Very nice brunch menu, excellent drinks. Must try the Pom frites with the 3 different dipping sauces. Great for people watching too! Only issue sometimes the garbage smell was overpowering with the open patio.
