“Visit in the morning”

No need to repeat facts from the excellent reviews from others on this site. Go and see it. The Cloisters was not crowded at all in the morning. We took the Express A train to 190th Street and it is a short walk from there. There is a recommended fee and you really should pay it to help both the Cloisters and the MET. Once you have your admission sticker here, you can take the subway back to the MET in the afternoon (there is a café here too) and just walk in as the sticker applies to both locations.

“Wonderful food and outdoor dining”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

The food, service and setting were just what we were looking for. We ate before taking a walking tour at The Cloisters. We told them were had tickets for a 1:00 tour and the made sure we received our food timely so we didn't have to rush to eat. The waiter also volunteered to take a picture so we would all be on it.

“Charming and serine, a great choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

Built in a old European monastery, rebuilt brick by brick in the lovely Fort Tryon park, I recommend this as a local. Not only is the art amazing, but the way the old monastery rubs off makes it feel so vivid. Because of this, i saw many kids much more excited about the art, and everything about it is alive and attracting. A bit expensive if I recall, but a good deal for New York, and just 30 minutes away on the A train from Midtown. It also gives a sense of a Real New York neighborhood, but not too real if you know what I mean. This will captivate you and be worth the visit, and bring a good lucnh for a nice picnic in the park after, with the gorgous views of the GWB and Hudson river will cap the trip of amazingly

Never took the time before to take the train out to the Cloisters but so glad we did, when you get off the train its a lovely walk through gardens to get there and inside its beautiful, nice art work and music with lovely gardens and museum pieces to view.
makes a nice half day trip.

“Well worth the visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2013

It is definitely out of the way but well worth the time to get there. The setting has some great views and the site itself holds some fascinating art and great architecture. Take half a day and visit.
