“Medievil building in the middle of NYC”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Metropolitan Museum branch museum dedicated to the art and architecture of medieval Europe located at the northern tip of Manhattan. It is pleasant surprise to see this building and collection in the middle of NYC rather than in the french countryside as might be expected. It will also take visitors off the tourist route to experience one of NYC's diverse neighborhoods. Nice Hudson River and Palisades views.

“Gorgeous building”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

My tween and I really enjoyed our trip north to visit the Cloisters. We walked through the pretty park after taking the subway, really enjoying the scenery and river views. The Cloister building felt like an old castle to us -- just so magical and beautiful inside. We only had a little over an hour to look around, and it was enough time to really enjoy this small museum. The art was all interesting and the parts and pieces of other buildings that this one is made from were impressive. We stayed until closing and then easily took the subway back downtown and into Times Square. It does take a bit of time to get here via subway -- about half an hour from Central Park area, but is very easy and the time sitting on the subway gives tired tourist legs a needed rest. We started our day at the Met and then walked across Central Park to catch the subway to the Cloisters. Since we'd already paid to enter the Met, entry was free at the Cloisters. Hightly recommend this gem of a museum.

A remarkable experience for anyone with an interest in medieval culture. The location makes it a wonderful scenic place & the gardens are really beautiful. Lovely cafe to further enhance the experience. I highly recommend the audio tour for an even deeper experience.

“Great museum”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

I hadn't been here in years and really enjoyed the visit and the tour we took. Our guide was very knowledgeable. This isn't a big museum, but it is very well curated.
