The museum has an excellent permanent exhibit that traces Jewish history up to the present day. It also has some excellent temporary exhibits, many of which would be of interest to people not interested in Jewish history, such as the current Chagall exhibit.
The museum is also worth visiting just to see the building that houses it, the former Warburg mansion.
The museum is on Museum Mile, so it is easy to combine with other nearby museums on Fifth Avenue, such as the Guggenheim, Museo del Barrio, Museum of the City of New York, and Cooper-Hewitt.
