“Great Hotel, Tricky Location”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

My husband and I just spent 5 nights in this hotel and thought the room was great. Bed very comfortable, good room size for price in NYC, modern, clean, good bathroom. My husband wasn't thrilled with the entrance to the hotel, being right in the middle of Chinese street vendors of all kinds, with no real hotel entrance. It's like entering an apt. building hall, dragging bags to the elevator, then up to 2nd floor reception. We arrived in a downpour without knowing this and found it all a bit confusing after a long flight. However, the metro is nearby as are the more trendier shopping and restaurant areas so I didn't mind walking past the Chinese fish, vegetable and other assorted food items to get there.

Room Tip: We had a southside room which was very quiet.

My family and I travel to NYC at least once a year, just because we like the whole NY experience. I had seen reviews of this hotel and the price points for rooms, size beds, etc. and decided to give it a try. Best decision I've made. If you like this end of town and can put up with a little NYC noise, you can't beat this hotel. Rooms are clean updated and well sized. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. When I called to confirm my internet room request, the staff bent over backwards to comply . The free breakfast bar is decent and well maintained. The hotel is in Chinatown, near Little Italy and has easy access to the subway and taxi. I only hope this does not paint such a positive picture that I can't get a room next time I need one.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter, corner rooms are lighter and have more views.

Found this hotel by chance while google mapping my daughter's address. Price was too good and only two blocks from my daughter's. While I usually stay at one of TA top rated boutique hotel in the past, I decided to take a chance and found myself in a clean and spacious room (and not just by New York standard). In the heart of China Town and little Italy, and just two blocks from Soho. If you're unfamiliar with New York, let me tell you it's where you want to be! Friendly and helpful staff. Special thanks to Hugo. Already had one friend stayed there and more to follow. Will definitely return.

Each year my partner and l take a long weekend for our birthdays in August and this year we decided to go to New York. On the recommendation of a friend they told us about the great stay they had at the Hanbee in Bowery and so we booked ! Arrived La Guardia and before we knew it 20 minutes later we were checking in at the Hanbee and what a nice reception greeting we received.Previous visits to NY before had always been midtown but this time we decided for downtown and we had a fabulous time. The Hanbee is very centrally located to everything you need and excellent walking distance to Little Italy ...Chinatown ...Soho and you can walk and walk until you feel you need a taxi which is all about NY. Our room was very spacious, clean and perfect for our needs and the staff at all hours have the best customer service ... delightful !
The Hanbee is a great find and many thanks for a great stay and we will be back !

Staff is very friendly and helpful (for that matter all of NYC seemed very friendly and helpful). We arrived well ahead of checkin and they held our luggage for us as we did some city touring.
The room was very clean and spacious as was the free breakfast bar. Only downside is the night noise but 3 or 4 scotches can cure that.

We stayed here for 5 nights last week and even though there were a few problems we really enjoyed our stay.

We found the staff here extremely friendly and helpful at all hours.

The rooms were good sized and clean. The bed was super comfortable and the water pressure in the shower really good.

You can't beat the location - the heart of Chinatown. Yes, Chinatown is noisy, crowded and smells like the bottom of a bin when it’s hot but that's all part of the charm of staying in the area.

You're close to everything here - the Grand St subway stop is right around the corner.

We did experience a few minor problems during our stay though.

The WiFi was really patchy in our room and a little frustrating.

Also, our room was quite close to the breakfast area on the second floor and so it gets a bit noisy in the morning (although waking up to the smell of waffles isn't all bad!).

If you can get a room on any other floor (or pack some earplugs) you won’t hear it.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely come back.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor get a bit noisy as they're close to the breakfast area.

Location is great, size of the room is perfect for the value, great service, and FREE breakfast!!! They could do a better job cleaning the rooms while you're gone though. They cleaning service covers he basics but they don't wipe the bathroom counter if u get it messy. Overall this is a pretty good hotel
