It took me some time to figure out why Rockefeller Center was an attraction, until I had a few hours to kill in mid-town and decided to spend that time there! It was not my first visit to Rockefeller, I first visited it for the tree-lighting during X'mas and wondered to myself - what's so great about this place? The ice-skating rink is smaller than what is shown in the movies yet one of the most expensive in the cities. What makes this place special is its location - next to MOMA, next to Radio city, bang in the middle of mid-town and with great shops in the complex. Lego, Nintendo for the kids and a lot of popular designer stores are represented here. The place is always crowded and there is always a hustle-bustle. Makes for a great place for some people - watching or for just strolling into the stores for some window shopping. The real surprise is the concourse below the Rockfeller Center with varied eating joints and small shops selling all kinds of knick-knacks. To sum up, Rockfeller Center is worth visiting for spending some time to do nothing except take some photos at the skating rink against the flags of the world and exploring all the shops around there! After all, a visit to New York is incomplete without a visit to Rockfeller!!!

Fantastic views of the Manhatten skyline. I would recommend that you do this during the day, and the Empire State Building at night. This has lesser queues during the day compared to the Empire State (partly due to much better organisation) - and if you go in the evening you wll get straight to the top of both of them. Seeing the skyline from these two different times of day is brilliant.

We walked thru the Rockefeller Center area several times to catch all of its beauty and for the shops/eateries. The best part is outside where flags from around the globe are flying and you can watch the ice skating. It makes you feel like you're In a movie!

I know you don't think clean bathrooms are exciting, but in NYC, it is. There's a starbucks, a clean bathroom, and the best lego store ever!

The tour was wonderful and so worth the extra $10. Our tour guide, Christine, was so knowledgeable and made the tour interesting for everyone in our group including our autistic 21 year old daughter. Christine's narration told a story in which the art, architecture, culture and people of Rockefeller Center and NYC are woven together. I loved hearing the stories about the Rockefellers, the artists and the visionaries who built it. I would never have been able to see and absorb so much about the art and architecture without Christine. I highly recommend this tour.

The top of the Rock was so much more enjoyable than the Empire State building. Spectacular views without being packed in like sardines.
