Owner description: The chapel is closed for restoration until work is completed in the fall. The churchyard will remain open. St. Paul's Chapel is part of Trinity Wall Street, an Episcopal parish that has been a part of New York City since 1697. The parish is deeply rooted in the city’s and the nation’s history. Established during the British occupation of New York and recognized by royal charter, Trinity was the first Anglican Church (which followed the services of the Church of England and included the King or Queen in its prayers) in Manhattan. St. Paul's Chapel was founded in 1766 as a chapel-of-ease at Broadway and Fulton Street. George Washington prayed there after his inauguration as President in 1789. Located just across the street from the World Trade Center, St. Paul’s played an important role in hosting recovery workers after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

How amazing is it that after 9/11 this little chapel is still standing. It is amazing walking through this chapel and seeing many things from 9/11. There are photos, memorials and clothes of some of the fireman. What a lovely place to visit.

We happened upon this after seeing the 9/11 memorial and I am so glad that we did! It was very moving and showed that people can rise to the occasion and help. It really changed NYC forever. I find this experience has made everyone much kinder and more empathetic than in days past. Amazing tribute to the human spirit and where George Washington prayed after he was inaugurated!

This lovely little chapel survived 9/11 without any damage and became the focal point for volunteers providing food, shelter, support and so much more.

This is such a moving chapel and shows humanity at its best at such a tragic and horrific time.

Very peaceful, touching and moving, not to be missed.

This chapel close to Ground Zero y interesting in the outside with the tombs and the architecture.
But inside the story is about remembrance of S11. Sad but interesting place.
