Love Stone street! The local restaurants that line Stone street, put out tables so you can enjoy the great outdoors in NYC. Avoid Thursdays (or get there before 5pm) as the banks send the junior analysts to save tables. Even the little fast food burger place puts tables out. If hungry check out Adrienne's pizzabar. If thirsty, pick any place with an open table.

Stayed at Wall Street Inn and walked all around Stone Street Historic district, enjoying restaurants and taverns as well as the historic streetscape. Kind of like being in Europe.

If you want to have a great eating and drinking experience by Wall Street in NYC this is the place,,,The street is one block long blocked off from traffic and filled with tables, benches and wonderful restaurants and bars.
We had a great flight of local beers and lobster roll sandwich...Come hang out with the locals in one of the most historic parts of New York and most interesting. Blocks from South Street Seaport, World Trade Center, Battery Park, Staten Island Ferry

On one of our previous visits to NYC we picked up a brochure on things to do in and around the Wall Street area. In the brochure was a photo taken at night of people dining at tables along a cobblestone street. The scene in the photo looked so much like dining outside a romantic European neighborhood. Diners enjoying food and drinks not just on the sidewalk but right in the middle of the street. The brochure didn't say where this place was or what it's all about so I decided to do a little research on the area so that we could explore on our next trip to NYC. This July, my wife and I returned for the third time to NYC. With information and directions I had found on the internet, we went exploring the Stone Street area. Stone street is a very old cobblestone road in the NYC downtown Financial District about halfway between Wall Street and the South Ferry Building and 3 blocks east of Wall Streets charging bull statue. I won't bore you with the history of Stone Street, but, if your thirsty and hungry and looking for a place to people watch this is definitely the place to visit. Stone street is only a few blocks long and is closed off to auto traffic. The street is shared by a variety of restaurants with a variety of cuisines, e.g. Mexican, Tavern food, Italian, etc. This looks like the place where the Wall Street workers come to meet and enjoy Happy Hour. This is a place where you share a large picnic table with friends and enjoy the atmosphere. Stone Street is also one of NYC's best places to people watch. As we were finishing dinner my wife turned to me and said "How are you going to top this?" and it was only our first night in the city. We had a couple of appetizers with wine and beer at the Stone Street Tavern. The food was good and the service was friendly. It is hard to choose where to eat because you have so many choices. We would definitely go back! If you are in NYC, make it a point to check this area out, you will not be disappointed.
