“Best tour in NY”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

\|There are tons of things you can do in NY. But taking the ferry to Ellis Island is definitely something I would recommend. The views on the skyline of Manhattan are great and the visit to Ellis Island is incredibly interesting. The tratment of the immigrants, what they had to go through, there things and voices. The museum enables you to put yourself in their footsteps. Great introduction to american history.
The visit to the statue of liberty did not impress me that much (but that's simply because we have seen it so often and we've all heard so many things about it.
Take your time in Ellis Island and take the audio guide. It's definitely worth it.

“Day trip to Ellis island”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

A very good day trip, plenty of history of early America. Easy to trace your relatives who went to America from late 1700 - present day. Nice boat trip past Statue of Liberty on return to Manhattan.

“A place I will never forget! A must do!”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

I have been so many places and have seen so many things, but touring Ellis Island is an experience that never diminishes in my memory. Use the headphones and "hear" the voices and the sounds which someone might have heard while being processed. Imagine having a white "x" marked on your back to show you have been rejected and will have to return to your former homeland. It made me think differently about all immigrants.

“fascinating!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

This was one of the main things I wanted to do on our visit to New York, and I wasn't disappointed.
Some of the stories are harrowing to read, but in general the place is amazing and the history of the island has been captured in a really clever way.

We took the boat over from NYC and stayed on when it docked at the Statue of Liberty, this meant that there were less people trying to enter the island when we did it, whereas if you did it after the Statue of Liberty you'll be there with the masses.

“What makes America America, where immigrants from the ld world arrived to start in the new”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Fascinating history and almost anthropological home to so many US families, the history here weeps out of the very walls. So much more interesting than Liberty Island that just has the statue.

Only Robben Island off Cape Town is more poignant and influential in a many lives.

A must see to help the European understand his or her American cousins.
