This tour was excellent. We really learned how several families struggled to exist in their new country. This gave us a new appreciation for our fore fathers perseverance. I highly recommend this tour.

“Well worth your time and money.”
Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

Great experience! The cost was a little high so wasn't sure what to expect as the tour is only about 90 minutes. Without a doubt, it was one of the best museum experiences I have ever had. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and seemed to love his job. He engaged the group without putting anyone on the spot and allowed questions throughout. The technology used at the end of the tour was downright amazing! It was worth the cost just for that part. When I return to New York I will definitely see another part of the tenement museum. The museum store was filled with all kinds of interesting books and stuff. Great place to buy quirky gifts.

“Good but pricey”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

I opted for the Irish outsiders tour which was good and our tour guide had really good knowledge of the area at that time. I was really disappointed that the tour only lasted one hour, given the cost I thought this was very short. It would be good if they gave you the option of a tour that went to different floors and lasted a few hours as one tour really limits what you see.

“mediocre tour -- not worth the cost”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

Sorry to say after great expectations, this museum was a real let down. We did 2 tours with 2 different guides -- the sweatshop and the Irish outsiders. First off the guides need to learn a little more history and be able to answer some really foreseeable questions. Second the sweatshop guide had no sense of history and how conditions were for the people in the "old" country. So her ignorance was annoying at best and then after she asked us to share our family experiences, she put us down when we told them. Really outraged us. The Irish outsiders tour needs to be 30 mins. It has at least 15 minutes of filler when they play music for you and explain the lyrics even though they project them on a screen and you can read along with the music. There is way more historical info they could offer instead of multimedia dreck. And for this we paid $22 a person. They should do informative signs and give up the tours and let you go through the place at your own pace. What a disappointment. Go to a real museum. NYC is full of them. But skip this one.
