Owner description: F. W. Woolworth funded this elaborate design on his own dime - and nickel. Designed by the renowned architect Cass Gilbert in 1913 as Frank W. Woolworth’s NYC headquarters, the landmarked Woolworth Building was the tallest in the world for 17 years. Long closed to the public, architectural tours of its magnificent vintage lobby are now available.

One of the great NY skyscrapers, it's graceful, beautifully decorated, and if they let you in to see it, has a lobby worth a visit.

“A great building to visit but not worth sending a Post Card.”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

A great architectural building in its time. Now I'd simply use it as a backdrop for photos. I wish I could say more. Other buildings such as the Empire State, Chrysler, The Plaza Hotel, 30 Rockefeller, the NEW World trade, etc have more to offer.

A classic building in the city, timeless and beautiful to see. The Titanic was taller if it stood on end next to the building, imagine that!

Keep your heads up to view the wonderful ceiling in the lobby. Don't be intimidated by the guards requesting identification Then move East to City Hall Park.

“Great.”
Reviewed September 11, 2012 via mobile

I started taking classes in the Woolworth building for the NYU masters program for global affairs and so far I love it. You need to be either a faculty, student, businessperson or a resident in order to gain entrance into tr building do it feels like a great privelige.
