Owner description: The world-famous Empire State Building offers unobstructed panoramic views of New York City and beyond from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily. Our 86th and 102nd floor Observation Decks offer the two highest vantage points in New York City. Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan from base to antenna, the Empire State Building is the World's Most Famous Office Building. Named America's favorite building in a poll conducted by the American Institute of Architects, the Empire State Building is one of New York City's top tourist destinations. On a clear day, you can see up to five states from our Observation Decks - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Guests can enjoy our outdoor viewing area on our open-air 86th floor Observatory, or our indoor climate-controlled viewing areas on the 86th and 102nd floors. We recently launched our new Multimedia Experience as well, which guides visitors through the extraordinary exhibits and breathtaking views with additional depth on the building's history in eight languages - including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean. The Empire State Building aims to provide entertainment for guests of all ages. Bringing children? Have their picture taken with King Kong himself on our 80th floor from Thursdays through Mondays (12 p.m. until 9 p.m.). Celebrating a first date or an anniversary? Enjoy romantic tunes from our saxophone player from 9 p.m. until midnight every Thursday through Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased through our website. Our celebrated tower lights are often illuminated to commemorate holidays, events and special causes. In the Fall of 2012, we upgraded our tower lighting system from floodlights to one-of-a-kind LED tower lights. The state-of-the-art system allows customized lighting capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors! To watch some of our recent light shows, visit our YouTube page. Reigning as the world's tallest building from 1931 to 1970, the Empire State Building is known for its distinct Art Deco style. Construction of the renowned icon only took one year and 45 days, and logged more than 7 million man hours. This is the fastest construction to date for a project of its scale. Additionally, from classics like An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle to recent hits such as Oblivion and Elf, our place in pop culture has been solidified since our early days. In fact, over 200 movies and TV shows have featured the Empire State Building in them!

Go all the way to the top, and paying extra for express was 100% worth it! The lines are deceiving, they wrap around and go in different rooms, so it looks like you're much closer than you are. We paid for express and cut in front of at least 300 people. Definitely worth it, and the view from the very top on a clear day is spectacular.

Hi Carol- We are delighted to hear you found the views to be spectacular! While you took advantage of our Express Pass, which allows you to skip the ticket and elevator lines, a good tip for those with standard tickets is to visit during our off-peak hours when we tend to see shorter lines: 8-10 a.m., 2-4 p.m. and 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Thank you for your visit. - Empire State Building

As expected the views are great. Nohting to add there. However I do have one great piee of advice: If at all possible go early in the morning during the week. We tried to see if we could get in on a weekend night and the wait (after the NY City Pass) was 2 hours. This time DOES NOT include the other myriad "Disney" line control areas you'll find once you enter the actual building (not the observatory by the way). We simply walked in, used our pass and went to the Observatory, commenting at each line "stop" how lucky we were. With the afternoon/evening lines this is something we would have definitely avoided believe it or not. Worth a couple of hours? Yes. Anything else: No.

Hi StudioCityMark- We are glad the views met your expectations and you found them to be great. While it sounds like you visited during our morning off-peak hours (8-10 a.m.), we also have afternoon and evening off-peak hours when we tend to see fewer crowds: 2-4 p.m. and 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Thank you for coming. - Empire State Building

Thrilling experience visiting the Empire State building. Got a fast-track ticket for the top level (102th floor) which included the NY virtual tour, and was well worth the extra $20. 360 degree views from 102th floor gallery are simply breathtaking. A must see in NY!

Hi Vladan- We are delighted to hear you found the views to be breathtaking and consider them to be a must-do in NYC. We'd like to point out that the the Empire State Building and its Observatories are not in any way affiliated with the New York Skyride (the virtual tour you mention) or its agents who approach visitors outside the building. New York Skyride is an independently owned and operated business. We are glad you had an overall thrilling experience. If you have any great photos, please email them to us at ESBPhotos@renegade.com, and we may add them to our Facebook Fan Photos album. Thank you for your visit. - Empire State Building

This is an optertunity to visit history and to visit a location you hear so much about. It also makes a differance if you get a good day as we did. Having a fasination with old buildings. Then the view, now you can see what New York looks like. Timing can be the key, as we went up in the mid afternoon. Able to avoid crowds. Pay the extra and go all the way to the top. The view is just a little better. The key is to have patience, spots will always open up close to the edge so you can get a view. If you offer to take someones photo with thier camera, they will often recipicate. We found that not too many persons want to pay the extra and go all the way to the top. So you aften will find more room to move around. Hold onto you hat if you have one as it can get windy. You may want to take your hat off while up there, so that you do not loose it.
