“What a sight...”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

This is obviously a must when visiting NYC, and its amazing. Sadly we weren't able to go up to the crown as we found out it needs to be booked a few months in advanced, but we did get the tickets for the island and monument. Inside the monument is lovely and warm and very interesting about how the statue was built. There is a lift up to the base of Lady Liberty (her feet) and go out onto the observation area. If you booked crown tickets, then from that point you'd have to walk stairs.

“An enduring symbol”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

Subject: Statue of Liberty
Location: New York City, New York, United States, North America
Title: An enduring symbol
ID#: 185043406

For anyone who visits the USA, the Statue of Liberty is a must see as this enduring symbol is intricately linked to the country's history past, present and future. You can't help but be moved at The Lady's colossal presence. As immigrants of the past looked on her as a beacon of hope, I dare say current day immigrants aspire to the liberty, freedom, respect and opportunity that she represents.

The Statue continues to be a hugely popular attraction so take note of the following to avoid disappointment: If you are interested in walking up the stairwell to the crown book tickets at least 4 months in advance. Tickets @ $17.00 pp to the pedestal, which includes, the ferry crossing from Battery Park to Liberty and Ellis Islands, can be booked online a day or two in advance.
Ensure that you are at the ferry at the earliest hour in the day as the ferries are packed to capacity and the visit to both Liberty and Ellis can take up to half a day. Ferry boarding for Liberty Cruises is behind the Staten Island Terminal. There are restrooms on the ferries as well as on the islands.

Food, although very ordinary, is available on Liberty Island. Backpacks are required to be stored at the lockers at $2.00 as security to the statue is as stringent as airport security.

“the best US$ 17 spend in New York”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

We loved this place along with Ellis Island Museum. And for US$ 17 you get:
1. ferry trip from Battery Park to Statue of Liberty
2. walk up to top of statue pedestal
3. audio tour
4. ferry to Ellis Island
5. Audio and guided tour of museum - excellent
6. ferry back to Manhattan

On a sunny day this trip gives amazing views of Manhattan. So coupled with the tours as well and the Statue - what a great way to spend 4-5 hours in NYC.
PS: If you want to walk up to the Crown you need to book online well ahead - it is booked up weeks in advance.

“Loved it”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

November was the perfect time to come, amazing weather and absolutley no queues! Boat ride across was great and nice to see the city from a different angle. For me the statue was a must see as for me it represents New York like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House do for Sydney. Enjoyed going up to the pedestal and having a walk around, if you want to do the crown you have to book online and way in advance I was there at the start of Nov and the crown was booked up to Feb next year! Also went to Ellis Island which was good but didn't stay too long. Overall, really good and definetly worth the price but just glad I was there when there was hardly anyone else around, cannot imagine walking around or being able to get any pictures with hundereds of others trying to do the same.

“She is BEAUTIFUL!!”
Reviewed November 19, 2013

We took to boat over to the Statue of Liberty on a beautiful day in November. I loved the audio that they provided about the Statue of Liberty. It is said that the Statue of Liberty faces East away from the mainland so as she is greeting and welcoming those who are coming to America. There are recorded histories of immigrants who felt as though Lady Liberty was there to welcome them to their new homeland. She is so enourmous to see in person. (Buy your ticket on line if you really want to go because going to the top was sold out so we didn't get to go up inside her).
