Owner description: Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. “Now is the time to visit the holiday shops”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

During the holiday season, Grand Central has an area of holiday shops that have some fun, unique items from around the area (jewelry, gloves, purses, hats, shawls, ...). It is a nice adjunct to a GC visit, and if its a cold day, perfect to get a break from the weather.

“stunning building”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

I had seen a youtube of a flashmob which took place at Grand Central Terminal and couldn't wait to see it for myself and I was not disappointed. It is a gorgeous building - the architecture is quite stunning
I was amazed to see a huge Apple Store spread out over the mesannine floor -
Also loved the Grand Central Market- nice to walk through with some very delicicous things to buy.
You really could spend many hours wandering around this special place in New York City.

“Nice place for pictures and food”

We had a delicious magic cookie bar (coconut) and a macadamia cheesecake dessert at Magnolias Bakery, they were just awesome. We went into the market and bought some delicious teas and unusual spices on spices and teases.

Don't miss visiting Grand Central Station when you are in New York. It is absolutely amazing. Spectacular architecture, clean and quite breathtaking. Make sure you take a camera, some wonderful photos to take here. There is a massive food hall and many shops although finding them all may not be quite so easy. We didn't catch a train from here but we were so glad we went!

“It's 'Terminal' not Station”
Reviewed November 21, 2013 via mobile

Wonderful architecture, rivaling Kings Cross in London.

The audio tour is worth doing on the NY Pass, but otherwise use your guidebook.

A commuter hub still retaining its historical charm. A must on all NY visits.
