Owner description: Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. This was a lovely buidling and you see it in the movies. Worth a visit to get some nice pictures on the staircase with the big windows. Also the outside of the buidling is a lovely peace of architecture.

If you ever have the wonderful fortune to visit NYC, you absolutely must include this stop on your list of sights to see. GCS is celebrating its 100 year anniversary this year, and it's simply breathtaking. It's architecture, stonework, staircases, arches, stained glass windows are beyond description. I often read some reference to some incident or arrival or departure involving GCS and it was nice to be able to put the things into context. There are lovely shops to visit, and restaurant's to sample in the massive building as well. A trained violinist was performing live on the food court platform as well which was a classy touch.

Never been to Grand Central Terminal the last few times we visited NY. But on a very hot and humid day in July, with no other options we went to Grand Central Terminal to stay cool. Vow, I am amazed to find it very beautiful, should recommend it for all visitors. BTW have a couple of fresh oysters in the Oyster bar with a glass of white wine - an afternoon well spent.

Visited this one on the advice of a mate and can see why he was impressed. The size of this old building is amazing and so clean. Apparently you can stand in a certain area of the station and talk to somebody on the other side of the station and you can hear them!!
