Owner description: Grand Central Terminal is the most extraordinary public space in New York City. Opened to the public in 1913, this historic train terminal is a world-famous landmark in Midtown. Its rich history is a story of immense wealth and great engineering. Grand Central is one of the busiest train stations in the world, with approximately 750,000 visitors every day. It is the home of Metro-North Railroad, a subway station, iconic restaurants, shops, and the world's most alluring Apple Store. Some of the highlights to see along your tour of Grand Central include the opal-faced clock, valued at $20 million, above the Information Booth, the Largest Tiffany Glass Clock in the World below the 48-foot, 1500-ton Transportation statue overlooking 42nd Street at Park Avenue, and the mystifying acoustics of the Whispering Gallery in front of the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Audio and guided tours are available for those with a passion for history. More information regarding tours and ways to plan your visit can be found on the Grand Central Terminal website.

“Make sure you go there once....and eat!”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Just remember...It's FREE!

If you only go there for a meal...go there! The architecture, the restaurants, the very strange (yet cool Apple store, the clock above the information desk in the center - everything can wow you.

My advice, take a few hours - head in, grab a few pictures of the clock (Ever seen Madagascar? It's the one Melman the Giraffe ends up with stuck on his head!) and get the big American flag in the background. Then wander around the shops, including the very cool Apple store. Finish off be heading the lower levels and grab a piece of Cheesecake at Junior's.

Oh, and Skip the audio tour, there's too much boring audio commentary available in New York, enjoy the scenery and magic - don't be such a tourist!

“Free Tour - check TimeOut magazine”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Loved the tour we found in TimeOut magazine which is provided free of charge every Friday at 12:30pm. We learned so much about Grand Central and the surrounding area that was transformed from its build. The terminal itself is an amazing structure. Go check it out.

“Beautiful building!”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Very nice building in the centre of Manhattan. Very busy but take your time to enjoy the details of this historic train station. A nice food court is a tip when you're hungry. A must-see in New York!

GCT is a grand space with a star-spangled cathedral ceiling, light bursting through enormous arched windows and the hustle of people running for trains. The restaurants added to the mezzanines and stair landings, and the shops placed here and there are all attractive and inviting.

This is an iconic station and is exactly as you would see it in many movies. Spend sometime in the main hall and just breath in the grandeur of this amazing centre piece of NYC.
