“Okay Pizza - Poor Service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2014

After being recommended and walking a long distance to find Artichoke's, our family of 4 found it very small and not customer friendly. We wanted to order a large Artichoke Pizza pie & slice of cheese for young son, which we said we'd go next door where slices were sold and bring it back to our table so we could eat together, since told they only sold pies on this side. Unfortunately unfriendly waitress, who never greeted us and just seemed to exist, told us we couldn't get our son a slice next door to eat at the table, he'd have to eat it outside. When we asked politely to speak with manager since we understood she didn't make policy, the manager reiterated policy and said we should buy a small cheese pizza for our son instead and that even though there was no one else in the small restaurant, we couldn't just buy a slice there. We went to other side, bought 2 slices of Artichoke and 1 cheese slice. Thanks to management's policy, we saved money and found pizza was ok, too creamy (spinach-artichoke dip type) for our liking, son didn't like cheese pizza & dough too thick for his liking. After spending week in NYC, Artichoke's was the most unfriendly restaurant we tried!!.

“Huge yummy pizza slices!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2014

And with loads of cheese! Amazing! :-P Had the artichoke and the white pizza slices. Both definitely worth a try, especially the artichoke one. Yummy! And not expensive at all. Small sitting area though.

“To Die For!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

Excellent Pizza – A must try!!!
Located on 14th street - small take out place. No tables - although you can sit on a bench outside.
Slices are served Extra Large. Crust is crispy - topped with a creamy artichoke dip.
They also have other types of pie - I have only had plain - which has the same crispy crust.
There are other items on the menu - I just haven't had them. You can also purchase sodas or even beer.
Sold by the slice or pie
I know there is another location in the Chelsea Area - it is a sit down.

“Yummy pizza, but could use more artichokes!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2014

After a full day of walking around the city, my husband and I were famished and decided to try this artichoke pizza many of our friends have been raving about. At $30/pie we considered just buying a slice each, but wanted some to take back home to MD with us (being born and raised in Jersey and NYC we both agree the pizza in MD sucks). We were able to order online via Yelp ahead of time, which was great because the line was out the door at 8pm (on a Friday). My order was ready for pick up by the time I made it to the front of the line.

The pizza doesn't have the typical NYC-style thin crust, but instead has a crust of ~1". The great part is, it's not so greasy that the oil penetrates the entire thickness of the crust. Also, the cheese they use is deliciously creamy. The only off-putting thing was that the cheese seemed to be floating on some kind of oily substance. On some parts of the pizza, the cheese literally slipped around from side to side. I couldn't decided if it was actually oil, or perhaps artichoke juice/marinade. Not wanting to miss out, I dabbed a little off with a napkin and used the crust to soak up the rest. My second gripe is that I wish they put more artichokes on the ARTICHOKE pizza.

Overall, the efficiency of the shop was pretty good despite it's small size and the line, and the pizza itself was pretty yummy. I will likely return, and would like to try some of the other pizzas on their menu.
