Clean with a great location. Much smaller than I expected for a suite hotel. Only complaint is the heating/cooling. The air would run until the room was freezing then turn off, then the heat would come on! We tried to get it fixed, but it was still not right.

We stayed here in October 2011 for our honeymoon for 8 days and had the most fantastic experience staying here. Both my husband and I were sick that week so spent more time in the room than we had planned, but it was just what we needed. Were lucky to stay on the 32nd floor with a small window view of the Empire State (had to stick our heads outside the window, but it was still great to see everyday and at dawn and dusk). The free laundromat facilities were fantastic and from what we have heard from our friends, a rarity in NYC. Monica on reception was always smiling, helpful and just lovely providing amazing service.
The hotel location is ideal, close to Times Square (just far enough that it's not crazy busy, but easy to walk to), the port to catch the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Hells Kitchen flea market on the next block!!
We highly recommend staying here and we would do so again - can't wait to head back.

Room Tip: Level 32 room with a window view of the Empire State building and river view

My husband and I just returned from a 5-day stay in NYC during which we stayed in this hotel. Although the room is probably smaller than average-sized hotel rooms, it is amply equipped with stove, relatively large refrigerator (not half-size), microwave, dishwasher and some dishes and cooking acoutrements. It was very clean and tidy. Our only qualm with the room is that we could never get the thermostat to properly regulate the temperature in the room; it was either too hot or too cold all the time when the heat/air was running. It was only comfortable when we turned it off completely, which were able to do at times thanks to the mild weather. The staff at the hotel were all helpful and friendly. When we got there too early for check-in, the staff locked up our bags in a secure hotel space while we walked around and became familiar with our location. They also secured our bags for an hour or so after we checked out so that we could do some last-minute shopping before our plane was to depart. Very accommodating! One day, when we discovered that our iron would not work, a call to the front desk got another one replaced at our door within 2 minutes max! Now that's great service!! The location of the hotel is very convenient to many key Manhattan landmarks, so we were able to walk to many places, including Times Square (very close), Rockefeller Center (we went on the Dr. Oz Show and saw the Today Show while over there, including Matt Lauer and Al Roker!), the Empire State Building, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Pier 83 where we took a Circle Line water cruise, Central Park, FAO Schwarz, Trump Tower and many, many other great stores and restaurants (unlimited places to eat and shop!). We were somewhat overwhelmed with all of the choices of places to go and wished that the hotel would have offered a map of sites or at least a recommended restaurant list of local places. Overall, Candlewood Suites was a very nice, safe place to stay in a completely radical city that truly never sleeps!

Room Tip: If you ask for a quiet room, they can place you away from the elevator.

Thank you for your detailed account of your time in our city and of course, for your review. We are glad you were able to sample some of the myriad of options New York has to offer in terms of dining, entertainment, and shopping. Don't delay too long on your return visit though as The City that Never Sleeps, also never stays the same. Happy travels and have a great day.

The location of this hotel is pretty good. This Candlewood has everything a Candlewood should have, the only thing different is the room size is pretty small. So this is a good place for you if you just need a bed for sleep in downtown Manhattan. But it is defenitely not a good choice if you would spend a lot ot time in room or you are travelling with a big family.

It was used to be one of the best value for redemption of IHG points. But IHG has raised the point to redeem one night.

Located on 39th street between 8th and 9th Avenue (nearer 9th) about 15 minute walk to Times Square. tight squeeze calling these rooms "suites" All suites have queen beds and kitchenette with all utensils, toaster, microwave 2 ring cooker, coffee maker. Tight Squeeze for Bed, Table and Chairs and easy chair. Fridge is very noisy all night, kept us awake. No service unless you stay for a week or more. Can order extra towels and linens at reception. Small shop at reception, free coffee all day. Basic hotel with no trimmings and expensive for what you get. Staff were very courteous.

Room Tip: All suites the same and beds are Queen Size only so can only accommodate 2 people, absolutely no room for any more - very tight squeeze calling these rooms suites.
